Oftentimes, gripes about not being able to bring in your own food into festival grounds run rampant. Except here’s a music festival that intends to shatter this grievance, by letting punters bring in their own picnics while enjoying world-class dance music entertainment – home-made sandwiches and house music are finally a reality! Yes, it’s true; the spontaneous party-lovin’ chieftains behind Sunshine Nation – guilty of raucous street parties at Circular Road – are pulling out the big guns with the Garden Beats Festival. This large-scale chill-out sesh is set to transform Fort Canning Park into a communal picnic on March 19, and the entertainment is absolutely stellar.
Reppin’ the amorous deep house of Berlin will be Alle Farben and Jan Blomqvist, with Faul & Wad pumping out similar sensual, pillow-y beats from France. Roping in more electronic, techy elements will be Klangkuenstler, and expect four-on-the-floor rhythms galore with LOVRA and Roscius. And on the local pulse, the Strongbow Stage (yes, there are two stages), will feature homegrown DJs Brendon P, Haan, KFC and Zig Zach.
As mentioned, there seems to be no restriction on the snacks that you can bring in. But lest you and your friends are hopeless in the kitchen, the Garden Beats Festival will also provide nosh from quality vendors – including Marco Marco (Italian), MEATliquor (burgers), Lime House (Caribbean) and Selva Foods (fruits and juices). In addition to a mish-mash of garden games, art installations and more, this alfresco fest does look to be one affair you shouldn’t miss.
