Nothing brings hearts together like conquering an adrenaline-charged adventure. And come Valentine’s season next year, Love On The Run is sprinting into the non-competitive fun run scene to deliver such a Cupid-approved quest. Happening one day shy of Valentine’s Day, this new running event hopes to spread the message of love with a 5km journey through Gardens By The Bay; a forerunner of warm, fuzzy vibes that’s catered to friends, family and couples. All you need is love at this race, and well, a trusty pair of trainers would be dandy too.
To foster the lovey-dovey spirit of #bettertogether, applicants (and don’t worry if you’re not athletic!) are encouraged to sign up in pairs, ’cos the taste of victory’s always sweeter with a buddy in tow. Your best mate, your gal pal, your kid or your granny – anyone’s welcome to join you on this dash. What’s that? You’re more of a solo flier and don’t have any running kakis to rope in? Worry not, as the Love On The Run organisers will ensure that you’re partnered up with a suitable wing-man (or wing-woman).
While sweating it out together couldn’t be more romantic in this context, Love On The Run also bolsters bonds with fringe activities that are dispersed along the 5km scenic route. There’s a rollicking limbo station at the beginning, where runners can find out how low they can go. A t-shirt stopover provides a detour for participants who wish to customise each other’s threads with decorations and heart-fluttering messages. At the end of the run, all applicants will receive a surprise gift, to be given by his or her running partner. And lest you feel like carrying the chemistry over from the kilometres you just overcame with your comrade, keep it going at the post-race after-party for musical jams and jaunts. Yeah, we can totally run with this.
