Café by day, diner by night, the picturesque Telok Ayer's Shop Wonderland is now open for dinner on Thursdays and Fridays
Update: We’re sad to see Shop Wonderland close. They served their last cuppa coffee and bowl of clam spaghetti in the last week of July 2018. Silver lining? Plain Vanilla will call that space home.
We all know Telok Ayer’s a cool precinct. From secret parks to dandelion lattes, the streets are bustling in the day with CBD types looking for a caffeine break to the brunch bunch seeking a pretty spot to spend the afternoon. When dusk comes, the crowds hunt for a place to down some beers, drinks and light snacks. It’s almost methodical how things work – that is until Shop Wonderland, the flora-themed café – also known for its amazing arty cakes – decided to roll out dinner service for all of us who’d like to meet up for a good meal, drinks, and perhaps some cake after work.
More than just a café (and a floral arrangement workshop space), Shop Wonderland is moving into the restaurant scene with a dinner service two nights a week, on Thursdays and Fridays. If you’re a regular at the jungly joint, or a fan of the salmon pizza with wasabi mayo and pasta bowls, you’ll be pleased to know your go-tos from the lunch menu are still on for dinner. Shop Wonderland’s clam spaghetti IS damn good, but wouldn’t you want to try the new faves they’ll be dishing out?

Shop Wonderland’s big on strong flavours – I mean, they have a bacon and maple syrup cake as one of its signatures – so a standout on the menu is the herb chicken roulade with garlic mash and a side of fresh pesto (pictured top). The mussel pots make great sharing dishes and come with a generous platter of bread or shoestring fries. If devouring a lot of food for dinner ranks high on the agenda, order the white wine mussels which are lighter on the palate, meaning you can still be adventurous with the menu – and trust us, you’ll want to! Especially, if you’re going to end the night with their amazing cake.
