Get tickets to Savour 2013 now
So we might have just come off a feasting binge, but mark our words: April is going to be a big month for foodies.
First up: Savour 2013. If you attended last year’s sellout event, you’ll know that nobody leaves this one hungry.
This year’s installment includes 30 world-renowned chefs and top local talent, more than 60 award-winning dishes, a two-storey Gourmet Market, and 300 complimentary master classes, workshops, and demonstrations.
We know – stunning numbers.
Like coffee? Make sure to join the Nespresso Coffee Atelier sessions where you’ll get schooled in the science of coffee. Have kids? Bring them with! There’s a special Kids’ Corner this year where they’ll be introduced to dishes from around the world and even get their hands dirty in the kitchen.
Wine classes run the gamut at Savour – not only will you be making like a vino expert, you’ll also learn how to blend your own wine and pair wine to music (dinner party hosts, look sharp). Then there’s the Savour Baking Studio where you can hone those soufflé making skills with top pastry chefs and bakers, but if making merry in the kitchen isn’t your thing, just eat your way through the festival.
So here’s how it works:
Want to do a global taste test where you get to sample 60 culinary masterpieces of a brand new line-up of international chefs and restaurants? You’re looking for the Gourmet Village. Big names like Julien Royer (JAAN Singapore), Kyung Soo Moon (Mikuni Singapore), Margot Janse (The Tasting Room at Le Quartier Français South Africa – listed under the world’s top 100 restaurants), and Jason Atherton (Pollen Street Social UK) will be present. Tasting portions of signature dishes are between $6-18, so navigating your way through this portion of the event isn’t a cheap walk in the park.
Like masterclasses? Make yourself comfy at the Gourmet Auditorium.
If you’re a gourmand who appreciates freebies, head to the Gourmet Market. This was our favourite pitstop last year – generous samples, ace cheese selection, a hall full of wines, and produce you never see in Singapore! This year they’re going twice as big and adding a Baking Arena, so make sure to schedule plenty of time for this section.
