A women’s health physiotherapist, Preet Singh’s goal is to help women on their journey towards physical well-being.
We love entrepreneurs and small business owners at Honeycombers, which is why we’ve created Launchpad, a comprehensive digital networking platform (with IRL benefits, too) that encourages connection, business support and community. It’s a privilege and pleasure to learn from so many talented and inspiring folks, so we’ve decided to share the love by interviewing some of the lovely Launchpad members. Looking for inspiration? Check out how Preet Singh, the founder of Embrace Physiotherapy, gets it done like a boss.
What is your backstory and why did you decide to launch your business?
Motherhood came as a shock to me as I quickly realised I had no idea how it could change me.
“Why didn’t somebody tell me?” I remember saying to myself. I wished more education existed on what to expect and who to talk to about managing these common – but not so normal – symptoms accompanying motherhood. So much pre- and post-natal support focuses on the baby. But where does the mum fit into things like being taught how to swaddle a baby and managing an ever-changing household?
That’s when Embrace Physiotherapy was born. It’s built on the philosophy: women who know better, do better.
What has been your biggest challenge so far and how did you overcome it?
Navigating through life, I doubted myself and fell victim to self-sabotage. However, I realised these behaviours aren’t inherent traits but rather the product of my environmental interactions and the beliefs I’ve internalised over time. It’s true we can be our own worst enemy, but I’m determined to break free from this cycle.
I’m working in progress, actively identifying my personal values and striving to lead my life in accordance with them. Courage, abundance, authenticity and inspiration are my personal values and guiding principles I hold dear. By periodically reviewing where I stand and reassessing my progress, I find it easy to stay in line with my values and avoid the tendency to self-sabotage. It’s a continuous journey of growth and self-discovery, but I’m committed to overcoming doubt, embracing my potential and creating a life that reflects my true self.
How do you stay motivated and energised?
One way to keep me on the right track is to review my “why”. Taking the time to reflect on the reasons behind my goals and aspirations helps me rekindle my motivations and reminds me of the bigger picture. Seeking inspiration from those around me also plays a crucial part in realigning my focus.
Having conversations with my husband, mentors, and fellow business owners who have achieved success in their respective fields provides me with valuable insights and helps ignite a sense of passion and force to charge forward. Lastly, there’s something magical about being in the sun. The warmth from the sun’s rays on my skin has an incredible way of reenergising my spirit and mind.
How do you keep stress levels low?
Taking care of our physical and emotional well-being is crucial for keeping stress away. I keep up with regular exercise as it improves my physical health and releases endorphins that uplift my mood and boost my energy levels. Besides the exercise routine, I nourish my body with a well-balanced and nutritious diet of wholesome foods that fuel energy levels and support mental clarity.
I love spending quality time with my family and friends. I enjoy engaging in meaningful conversations, creating memories, and having shared activities as they help replenish our spirits and provide a sense of connection and fulfilment.
Favourite place to work?
I find constant inspiration from my team and the clients we help at Embrace Physiotherapy. Our nurturing space fosters innovation and implementation of new ideas, enhancing patient care and professional excellence. Located on a vibrant street in Joo Chiat that provides easy access to various amenities (including coffee), it’s my favourite place to work.
Can you share a work mantra that you use?
Time-blocking is my favourite. By scheduling dedicated time slots in my diary for specific tasks, I ensure productivity and a sense of accomplishment. Additionally, I rely on a to-do list as a brain dump. It helps me organise and prioritise my responsibilities effectively.
One thing you can keep talking about for hours?
Pelvic health is an incredibly important and often overlooked aspect of overall well-being. From understanding the pelvic floor muscles to discussing common issues like incontinence and pelvic pain, I can passionately talk about the significance of pelvic health and the steps individuals can take to maintain it for hours.
Your go-to self-care activity?
Simply doing nothing. In the hustle and bustle of daily life, taking alone time to simply be still and quiet allows me to relax and recharge. It’s a moment of respite where I can release stress and reconnect myself.
One piece of advice to your younger self?
Learn and be curious. Embrace curiosity as a powerful tool for growth and learning. Don’t hesitate to explore, inquire and seek understanding. It’s through curiosity that you’ll gain valuable knowledge and endless opportunities.
