This year's H&M Design Award saw 24 year-old designer Hannah Jinkins claim the top prize of $50,000 and a capsule collection with H&M
H&M is more than just everyone’s go-to place for fast fashion – it’s also a design incubator that celebrates talent and opens doors to the ever-growing world of fashion.
Just earlier this month in London, Hannah Jinkins was announced as the winner of the H&M Design Award 2016. The 24 year-old native Londoner and Royal College of Art, London graduate was selected from eight finalists by an international jury that included big industry names like Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing, fashion photographer/videographer Nick Knight, and social media star Chiara Ferragni, and actress Kate Bosworth.
Hannah’s winning collection is comprised of oversized yet feminine silhouettes, and the overall range created a balance between tough fabrics like raw denim and inner linings of silk. And as the winner, she received a prize sum of €50,000, as well as the opportunity to develop her winning collection to be sold in selected H&M stores, as well as online, in Autumn 2016.
