In this month’s edition of Hot New Cafes: Groundstory, Fifty50 and more
New year, new hangouts! We’re planning on kicking off 2018 on the right foot and that means finding fresh new hideouts for our all-important brunches, coffee and quiet time. For January’s Hot New Cafes, we’ve got a couple of dreamy ones in store, including Fifty50 and Groundstory.
Truth: We hate sharing this secret with the world. Groundstory resembles all our favourite Balinese home decor stores with its decor, and inventory of artisanal crafts from around Asia. While it is more of a store than a cafe, the limited seating’s a great spot to kick back with a coffee, juice or a cake or two.
Groundstory, 756/758 North Bridge Road, Singapore 198726
We love a cafe with heart and Lina’s Cafe’s got lots of ‘em. The humble hideout is dedicated to raising awareness for autism – it’s a judgement-free zone for families with kids on the spectrum. Chow down on Malay dishes like Mee Rebus and Nasi Lemak, or take respite with desserts like Ondeh Ondeh cake and Pandan Mille Crepe cake.
Lina’s Cafe, 7 Jalan Pisang, Singapore 199074
Fifty50 will put any meat enthusiast into a head spin. The vegetarian joint in Tanjong Pagar serves up some mean sandwiches – the one above features zucchini and hummus – and wraps, along with delicious pumpkin and feta cheese pastas.
Fifty50, 11 Kee Seng Street, #01-04, Singapore 089218
Eggs n’ things
Harking from Waikiki, Hawaii, the famed Eggs n’ Things is coming to Singapore (Plaza Singapura, specifically). While we don’t have the full deets just yet, what we know is that you can expect the renowned omelettes, crepes and fluffy buttermilk pancakes. More on the site soon!
Eggs N things, Plaza Singapura, full address TBC.
