There's also a re-launch pop-up party tying in with Singapore Cocktail Week 2016 this March
Like many other booze-drinking folks, we drowned our sorrows when we found out that one of our fave cocktail bars at Ann Siang Hill had called it quits. Nutmeg & Clove was known for its traditional Oriental décor and whimsical interpretations of bespoke cocktails, often using Asian flavours and spices to please and tease palates. A humble announcement on their Facebook page revealed the crushing news that this cornerstone cranny of The Establishment Group was closing a chapter, leaving the bar scene one ace watering hole short. Thankfully for all of us, their abrupt hiatus has been extremely short-lived!
In conjunction with Singapore Cocktail Week 2016, Nutmeg & Clove is reopening its doors from its same ol’ Ann Siang abode, but with new local-inspired cocktails that reflect the evolving eras of Singapore – potent, and patriotic! The Trading Post era is represented by the The Barrel Age SG Sling: a play on Singapore’s ‘national cocktail’ with gin, sandalwood infusion, orange liquor, DOM liquor, cherry liquor, hibiscus, pineapple and house bitters; served in a mini wooden trishaw to boot. Or dip your tongue into the dark and seedier side of SG’s history with The Opium Wars: tequila blanc, orange liquor, lime, tamarind, lapsang souchong and, according to them, gunpowder!
Along with other crafted concoctions, these bevvies are the creations of Bar Manager, Leon Tan, who recommends that you pair these cocktails with upcoming dishes from the food menu – also curated by The Establishment Group’s Culinary Director, Brandon Teo. The reopening party at Singapore Cocktail Week 2016 is also inviting some of the best bartenders in Asia, including Japan’s Hidetsugu Ueno, Thailand’s Ronnaporn Kanvichaporn, Taiwan’s Angus Zou and more. And why wouldn’t they swing by? This next phase of Nutmeg & Clove is a mighty big deal! No doubt you’ll be finding us Honeys there again real soon.
