From now ’til 31 August, the Putian Clam Festival happening at all PUTIEN restaurants looks to be a treat amongst seafood lovers
We can’t clam up about this piece of food news! If clam cravings strike you frequently whenever you think about seafood, you’ll wanna come out of your shell for this one. But enough puns, ’cos I assure you this food event’s no joke – there’s gonna be a Putian Clam Festival serving scrumptious Chinese clam dishes, happening all the way ’til the end of August. And how can you be certain that this is top-notch quality? It’s happening at a Michelin-starred restaurant, that’s why.
The annual Putian Clam Festival makes its comeback at all PUTIEN restaurants – the PUTIEN branch at Kitchener Road made waves last year after bagging one Michelin star – importing these seasonal bounties all the way from Putian in the Fujian province of China. These coveted clams remain in season for just three months, and you’ll be able to relish these rarities in seven different recipes. From fried and fluffy clam omelettes and addictively chomp-worthy salted and spicy clams, to a healthy boiled clam soup with tofu meatballs and crispy, baked clam served on a sizzling hotplate – these diverse variations aim to bring out the full flavours of the Putian delicacy.
Did I also mention that these clams are known for growing up to six centimetres in length? Happy munching on these whoppers!
