The time is nigh to enjoy Seminyak's most interesting cocktails amidst a mouth-watering, Malay-inspired menu of more divine spices, flavours and ingredients than Bali has sunsets. Get yourself along, quick smart!
When a new restaurant in Seminyak opens their doors with designer cocktails and fabulous hip menus in designer surrounds, you need to know about them before your friends do. When it’s a new restaurant by Bali’s favourite foodie legend Will Meyrick, everyone is already at the ready to book in and dine the night away. And, did we mention ‘Salted Caramel, Espresso Martini Ice Cream’! Tiger Palm, you had us at hello!
Inspired by flavours of Malaysia, and they are all pretty delicious let us tell you, Tiger Palm is the latest Bali address of the Sarong Group and internationally acclaimed Managing Chef, Meyrick. Think: Sarong, Mama San, Hujan Locale, repeat.

The extensive Tiger Palm menu – rivalling as much divine choice as Mama San is famous for – draws from the cultures and cuisines of Malaysia, along with influences of Nyonya and Thai cooking and food historically inspired by the Chinese traders and self-starting businessmen from Southern India. It’s a delicious mashup of so many gorgeous spices, flavours and ingredients, as Will Meyrick does oh-so-well.
Fragrant dishes from the streets and kitchens of Penang have been carefully recreated with the highest quality ingredients, sourced both locally and overseas. Rich curries, soft rice noodles, crispy bites and fresh fish are inspired by Chef Meyrick’s travels, his in-depth research of Malaysian cuisine and his close associations with some of the regions top chefs.

As with all of Will’s Bali restaurants, nothing is ever average on his menus. Here’s a taster of a few delish dishes to whet the appetite: Nasi lemak with chicken rendang cucumber sambal peanuts ikan bilis egg and coconut, Penang Hokkien mie with sliced pork belly kangkung prawns egg sambal bellman and “Otak Otak” fish wrapped in banana leaf betel leaves, Thai basil coconut nam chut sambal. Hello!
Then, there’s those cocktails! Be prepared for a few [thousand] giggles – the more cocktails, the more giggles – as you read up on part of the cocktail menu which offers all sorts of special treats for the ladies or gents, in the bedroom department!
Virility, bust enhancing, even restoring a woman’s virginity are only a few of the added bonuses from the drinks list – courtesy of the traditional medicinal herb mixtures within the cocktail ingredients, inspired by Indonesia’s ageless Jamu culture of health and beauty potions. For example, Prawan Prawanita offers Virginity Restoration [true!] as well as the pure deliciousness of smoked tequila campari aperol citrus egg white mint. We tried them all, and trust us, these elixirs are ones to write home about! Or at least flood the Insta-feed.

The seventies-Malay-glam décor of Tiger Palm transports you to the ‘Palm Court’ of the Eastern and Orient Hotel, with tropical mid-century modernism with vintage Malay and Tiki-pop highlights. We want to take home those gorgeous, glamorous chandeliers and the copper-pressed bar [and cocktail cups], all giving you a luxurious dining experience against the turquoise couches and wall murals.
Lastly, let’s not forget that the location is hugely convenient for shopping or pampering [or both], being located in the new Seminyak Village Shopping Centre. So, go for the amazing food but stay for those cocktails… you’ll have a culinary, cocktails [and more!] night to remember!
