Indonesian Olympics surf team coach and business owner

Today, ASC is a platform for all surfers to compete in all levels, from local club events to the world-renowned WSL professional level.
Tell us your story – how did you get here?
I was born and raised in Bali in Legian, and then moved to Seminyak… Bali has always been my home. Today, I am the Managing Director of Asian Surf Co, the Co-Founder of Earth Island, I am the coach for the Indonesian Olympics surfing team, and also the Co-Owner of Good Mantra together with my wife, Feby Jabrik.
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
I’m really proud to have helped grow the surf movement here in Indonesia, and to give lots of opportunities to young local surfers. Just look at Rio Waida – he made it to the Tokyo Olympics!
What impact have you made in Bali?
I would say creating the Asian Surf Co is the biggest impact I’ve had here – it is the surf movement that we created in the early 2000s which started out small. Today, ASC is a platform for all surfers to compete in all levels, from local club events to the world-renowned WSL professional level.
What does 2022 look like for you?
2022 looks good, and the waves are always good in Bali… You can’t ask for more than that!
What do you love most about Bali?
The people, the smiles, and the waves.
What do you love most about your sport?
Surfing is a spiritual journey… that’s why I love it.
Who is your Local Legend and why?
My Local Legends are: Ketut Mendah, Made Kasim, Gede Narmada, Wayan Gantiyasa, Sanali, and Arya Subyakto. All are local surfing legends.
