Sip cocktails and tuck into Eastern Mediterranean cuisine at this new beach bar and restaurant at Robertson Quay, from the folks behind Neon Pigeon and Fat Prince
A “city beach” dining concept in Robertson Quay seems a little far-fetched, but Summerlong has done just that. The concept, brought together by the team behind Neon Pigeon and Fat Prince, aims to bring a little slice of beachside living and a little Mediterranean soul to the rather urban Robertson Quay.
While its bright and breezy beachside décor will immediately conjure images of summer seaside vacations in Europe, Summerlong’s concept follows through fully in its menu offerings. The open kitchen, helmed by Chef Justin Hammond of Neon Pigeon, serves up a mix of Eastern Mediterranean snacks that include a roasted sweet potato & chili hummus ($7) or the creamy greek style burratina ($16). The Beach Shack section of the menu, in line with the restaurant’s beachy theme, also offers a variety of raw and cooked seafood.
More substantial dishes can be found on the Grill & Plancha menu that includes specialties like the Persian fried chicken ($25), Mediterranean smoked pork ribs ($35), and the roasted forest mushroom tagine ($21) – a comforting dish that will appeal to vegetarians and even meat lovers.
Of course, Summerlong’s links to Neon Pigeon and Fat Prince brings along the expectation of some stellar cocktails – the group’s Bar Manager, Symphony Loo, has concocted a line-up of tropical tipples like the refreshing Medius Terra Fizz made with rosehip gin, lemongrass, ginger, and soda ($15), along with more spirit-forward libations like the 3 Continents cocktail made with three rums, pineapple and passionfruit, and served in a coconut shell ($21).
With its beachy vibes, Eastern Mediterranean menu, and tropical cocktails, Summerlong is quite possibly the closest you can get to a European beachside vacay without ever stepping on a plane.
