Chef Nobu Matsuhisa is back in Hong Kong
On 25 and 26 November, chef Nobu Matsuhisa will be back at his eponymous restaurant at InterContinental Hong Kong, this time for a little something different. He will be joined by Mr. Fumio Hazu, President and Owner of Hokusetsu Sake Brewery, the maker of NOBU’s private label sake. Enjoy a special 8-course Omakase Dinner for $1488 and add $550 for a sake pairing
Also, on 25 November from 4:30pm, learn the subtleties of Sake with Mr. Hazu, who will conduct a sake tutorial class and tasting. During the class, Hazu-san will share the background of Hokusetsu Brewery and its unique brewing methods, and the class will be accompanied by NOBU-style canapes.

Yamm celebrates Kumamoto (and Kumamon!)
From 28 November until 10 December, Yamm restaurant at The Mira will be embracing gourmet delights from Kumamoto with 12 days of themed buffets. During the first days of the event, guest chef Taketo Fukuda, owner of traditional restaurants in the coastal region of Amakusa will make an appearance, as well as Kumamon – the mischievous mascot of the prefecture that can’t help but put a smile on your face.

La Rambla by Catalunya to launch
Well known Mediterranean dining specialists Catalunya will open a new concept in IFC this month. La Rambla by Catalunya will be helmed by Spanish chef Ferran Tadeo, formerly of el Bulli, who will offer an ingredient-driven, Catalan-inspired menu that reflects his creative and contemporary cooking techniques. Seating around 100 guests, expect fresh ingredients, a gin trolley and a separate outdoor bar space.

Asian Brunch Fiesta at Fang Fang
Head out to a new location for brunch with Fang Fang’s new Asian Brunch Fiesta. Blue – Butcher & Meat Specialist launches new range of cocktails
Made by mixologist Suraj Gurung to match the wonderful selection of meat dishes available on premises, Blue Butcher & Meat Specialist has just unveiled a new selection of cocktails. Featuring a range of house infused liquors and bitters, the new drinks team an avant-garde feel with contemporary classics, such as Forever Young which incorporates homemade citric solution tinted colonial red with cranberry shellac. Cocotte and Neo Cocktail Club have closed their doors
Two places with great heart have closed their doors this past weekend, with both Cocotte and Neo Cocktail Club bidding adieu to Hong Kong. We here at Honeycombers Hong Kong are getting a little sad about the number of great restaurant closures of late (The Kinnet, 3/3rds, Maya and Home to name a few), and we promise we are looking into what the deal is, so stay tuned!
Cucina celebrates white truffles with special menu
Enjoy classic Piedmontese dishes by Chef Andrea Delzanno at Cucina until 10 January, 2018. Champak Restaurant by Atum opens in Mong Kok
Located in the recently opened developed The Forest in Mong Kok, Champak Restaurant by Atum is an Instagram lovers dream. With colourful walls, tiles and plants around every corner, go for the design, and stay for the surprisingly good food. The phad Thai is apparently the most popular dish, but we really liked the watermelon and dragonfruit salad with salted plum powder that came with nuts and lime. AND you have to order the unicorn drink – it’s a non negotiable.

Porterhouse in California Tower gets a facelift
Popular steak joint Porterhouse – now part of the LKF Group – has just undergone a total revamp of its interior, giving the space a new, stylish.. The restaurant still serves up delicious dishes, with steak remaining at it core, and the new a-la-carte menu features Hong kong’s largest collection of Porterhouse Steaks, including cuts from Australia, the STates and Spain. Interestingly, the restaurant is now also serving an Iberico Pork Porterhouse and a Colorado Lamb Porterhouse.

Roomsbar opens at Emperor Cinemas
Founded by Albert Yeung Sau-shing, the entertainment conglomerate Emperor Group has recently opened its first cinema in Hong Kong, with the concession area being looked after by the team at Maximal Concepts. With a retro/vintage feel, Roomsbar has reinvented well-loved movie snacks like hot dogs and nachos adding some luxe ingredients to the mix. Movie-goers can also enjoy hand-crafted cocktails and beers on tap from Roomsbar. Now that really sounds like a Honeycombers hangout!

Jamie’s Deli opens in Tsim Sha Tsui
The first Jamie’s Deli in Asia, British chef Jamie Oliver brings a new outlet to pick up responsibly sourced food in Hong Kong. The restaurant offers both casual dining and takeaway options, where guests can enjoy classic NY-style sandwiches, like Reubens, along with a mixture of salads, pizzas and even a yoghurt bar!

La Rêve launches a new menu for autumn
Inspired by the ingredients of the season, La Rêve has changed up its menu to include a host of dishes that will take guests around the world on a culinary seafood journey. Available as six-course ($850 + 10%) or eight-course ($1,150 + 10%) tasting menus for dinner or as a four-course brunch ($490 +10%) over the weekend, indulge in dishes such as Snow Crab – a soup made with Japanese snow crab and seasonal foraged mushrooms; and Simply Cod, cod fillet nestled in a bed of beer meringue shards. Rhoda presents St. JOHN with Richard Turner and St. JOHN Wines
Rhoda is being taken over by the iconic St. JOHN Bar in November, as Fergus Henderson wings his way to Hong Kong for the five-night dinner series. Beginning on 7 November, the event is a result of a shared vision by Nate Green, Henderson and Richard Turner of Hawksmoor to present nose to tail cooking in all its glory.
A trio of appetisers from will be served before the main course: Ox Tripe & Cheek Gratin, Bone Marrow and Parsley Crumb accompanied by Buttered Savoy Cabbage with Sage. Foodpanda starts late-night delivery to Central and Sheung Wan
The team at Foodpanda has heard our callings and is now partnering with a selection of restaurants to deliver well into the early hours. Those living in Central and Sheung Wan are now able to chow down on post-party delights from the likes of Paisano’s, Ebeneezers, The Flying Pan, Cali-Mex and – my personal favourite – 27 Kebab (mmm… the falafel…) Delivery hours differ from restaurant to restaurant, with some going as late (or early?) as 5am. For those of us living outside of the Golden Zone, I guess we’ll just have to keep going to 7-11 for late night snacks.

Indulge in white truffles at Nicholini’s

MEATS by Pirata Group to open end of October
After the success of both Pici and TokyoLima, Pirata Group is back with its newest eatery in the heart of SoHo – MEATS. With a kitchen helmed by Scotsman Paddy McDermott, the menu will include a series of regularly rotated plates that are made to be shared. Guests will be able to indulge in fall-off-the-bone lamb shoulder, homemade sausage, rotisserie chicken along with a selection of bourbons, beers and wines.

A special Halloween cocktail at The Optimist
Available from 27-31 October, Bar Manager Sam Lebel at The Optimist has created a freakishly good cocktail in the spirit (or spirits!?) of Halloween. The Last Journey blends sweet pomegranate liquor with cherry brandy and peach puree, and finishes with a kick of black spiced rum. Finished off with a levitating cotton-candy coated strawberry – we think this delight will taste as good as it looks.

Chef Paul Greening brings experimental Japanese to Aqua and Armani/Aqua
From 29 September until 25 November, Japanese Executive Chef of Aqua Restaurant Group Paul Greening will be serving some fun experimental dishes at Aqua and Armani/Aqua. Harnessing his background in microbiology, guests can enjoy the delights through the limited edition bento set at Armani/Aqua ($428) of the 3-course set at Aqua ($508).

The Embassy takeover pop-up at Quinary
To celebrate the 5th anniversary of Quinary in Hong Kong, the Central bar will be taken over by The Embassy – one of the most anticipated openings on the New York bar scene this year. From 16-18 October, the bar will be fully transformed, with even the exterior taking on features from the American space.

Fiasco is back at Carbone
Held on the last Saturday of every month, the next edition of Fiasco comes back to Carbone on 28 October from 12:30pm-3:30pm. Jax Coco unveils sparkling coconut waters
Jax Coco has just launched two sparkling coconut water flavours in Hong Kong: Raspberry and Ginger & Lemon. We tried some in the office, and it was a close call, but the Ginger & Lemon version won the popularity vote thanks to its refreshing zing. We reckon it would be amazing in cocktails too, for a little after work refreshment.

Three Buns takes over at Potato Head Hong Kong
Chef Adam Penney has created a range of burgers that capture the flavours of Hong Kong and will be rolled out at Three Buns at Potato Head from 20 September-20 November. Made especially with Hong Kongers in mind, the Porkerface blends pork and XO for the ultimate HK taste. Other offerings include Three Buns’ take on the classic cheeseburger – Baby Huey, and the Smokin’ B-Boy that features a 150g Hereford Angus beef patty, garnished with smoked applewood cheddar, Dingley Dell beer, treacle streaky bacon and BBQ ketchup.

The Steak House Winebar + Grill launches A Taste of Ireland
The InterContinental Hong Kong’s Steak House restaurant will be serving A Taste of Ireland from 4 September to 31 October. Offering John Stone Irish Dry Aged Beef, including prime rib, tenderloin and ribeye, other tasty Irish ingredients will be on the menu, such as Kelly oysters from Galway, farm-fresh cheese and organic salmon. The Executive Pastry Chef is also creating a special ice cream dessert made with Killowen farm yoghurt especially for the event.

Carbone announces white truffle menu
Everybody’s favourite New York-Italian restaurant Carbone is celebrating white truffle season with a range of dishes from Chef Billy Otis that capture the flavour of the coveted ingredient. Available from late October through to December, guests can get their hit of Alba truffles from Piedmont, Italy, delivered tableside by the tuxedo-clad captains. Dishes to look out for include Scallop Crudo, Truffle Fettucine and Truffle-Topped Japanese Eggs on Brioche.

The Butchers Club Burger announces Craft Beer Festival

Feather & Bone launches dry-ageing service
Local Hong Kong delicatessen and butcher Feather & Bone has launched a personalised dry-ageing service, so that food lovers can double down of their beef appreciation. A first for Hong Kong, the service allows guests to purchase large pieces of premium beef such as ribeye or short loin and have them aged according to taste. With only nine dry-ageing spots available at the Happy Valley, Central and Clearwater Bay stores, participants can visit the butcher as often as they like to have individual steaks cut off for consumption at home, or opt to have them grilled in-house at the Happy Valley location Executive Chef Eric Taluy.

Black Sheep Restaurants announces new opening
The team at Black Sheep Restaurants has just announced that New Punjab Club will open later this month. Cocktail collaboration between Antonio Lai and The Coffee Academics

Kishoku launches new menu featuring Japanese figs
Just in time for summer, Japanese restaurant Kishoku has unveiled four new dishes that incorporate the sweet flavour of figs along with their healing properties. Chef Dragon and his team work with both fresh and dried varieties to bring unique dishes to both the a la carte and omakase menus.
Served as a palate cleanser, the Japanese Summer Salad combines figs from Osaka with aloe and fresh white corn from Hokkaido, while the Fig and Zucchini Flower Tempura sees a fig being wrapped in 30-month-aged prosciutto within a zucchini flower. Other treats include Fig and Crab Monaka with dried fig, Japanese hairy crab and avocado, and Fig Yokan for dessert, which sees a slow-cooked dried fig served with yokan jelly.

Wan Chai Vietnamese restaurant Com Banh Mi has launched two new dishes for summer that blend the flavours of Vietnam with local Hong Kong ingredients.
Pho Bo is a Hoi An sliced beef noodle soup that combines beef marrow bone and a mixture of spices to create a light soup base, while Com Ga Hai Nam is the restaurant’s take on Hainan Chicken Rice, served with thai basil and coriander.

Everyone’s favourite Lebanese restaurant in SoHo has just launched a special summer deal that is sure to put on a smile on your face. Every Saturday and Sunday from 12-5pm, the restaurant’s rooftop will pump reggae tunes as guests chow down on the best kebabs in town.

The number of dishes available has almost doubled in size to reflect the diversity of Lebanon’s cuisine and to celebrate restaurateur Alex Malouf’s heritage.
Whole Roasted Baby Snapper with Chermoula is served with sage potatoes and a vivid purple cabbage salad in a nod to the region’s often underrepresented seafood heritage, while Lebanese Beef Kafta is another new addition to the menu. Those with a sweet tooth will definitely want to try the Turkish Delight Fondue, a new dessert to round out your meal.
