Magical garden feast and picnic at Urban Park
In celebration of the cooler weather, Urban Park in Tsim Sha Tsui introduces The Secret Garden Feast by Justin C, available until December. Promising a surprise with every course, the chef – who holds four degrees in nutritional studies and molecular gastronomy – has created a 4+1 tasting menu that includes a selection of mysterious and fanciful dishes.
Dinosaur Egg Ceviche, Served with Magic Pink Sauce and Squid Ink Crisp actually features a poached duck egg marinated in butterfly pea blossoms to give it a vivid blue tone, while Paint Your Pasta allows guests to select the colour of their dish from a range of natural food ingredients such as beetroot and spinach. We think that the meal is going to be an Instagrammable delight of epic proportions, so stay tuned for our review coming soon.

Chef Johan Ducroquet has unveiled a new autumn menu at Le Bistro Winebeast in Wan Chai that captures the essence of the season. Available throughout September and October, the new menu retains the restaurant’s penchant for twists-on-a-classic dining, serving comfort food such as Boudin Blanc – French pork, chicken sausage, mini apple tart, green apple and grilled hazelnut and Dark Chocolate Fondant for the cooler season. We particularly like the way the menu features a selection of seasonal fruits and nuts.

Fiasco is back at Carbone
Held on the last Saturday of every month, the next edition of Fiasco comes back to Carbone on 30 September from 12:30pm-3:30pm. The event transports guys and dolls to a 20th Century New York Red Sauce Joint and includes lots of pasta and meats along with burlesque dancers and an interactive show. White Truffles hit the menu at ON Dining
This October, Chef Philippe Orrico and the team at ON Dining are celebrating Alba truffle season with a selection of indulgent dishes. Try Hamachi Carpaccio. Egg Raviolo, and Sea Urchin Taglioni, each finished with hefty amounts of white truffle, or push the boat out and try the Ricotta Mousse with praline, praline sauce, white chocolate and truffle – sounds delish.

Jax Coco unveils sparkling coconut waters
Jax Coco has just launched two sparkling coconut water flavours in Hong Kong: Raspberry and Ginger & Lemon. We tried some in the office, and it was a close call, but the Ginger & Lemon version won the popularity vote thanks to its refreshing zing. We reckon it would be amazing in cocktails too, for a little after work refreshment.

Three Buns takes over at Potato Head Hong Kong
Chef Adam Penney has created a range of burgers that capture the flavours of Hong Kong and will be rolled out at Three Buns at Potato Head from 20 September-19 October. Made especially with Hong Kongers in mind, the Porkerface blends pork and XO for the ultimate HK taste. Other offerings include Three BUns’ take on the classic cheeseburger – Baby Huey, and the Smokin’ B-Boy that features a 150g Hereford Angus beef patty, garnished with smoked applewood cheddar, Dingley Dell beer, treacle streaky bacon and BBQ ketchup.

The Steak House Winebar + Grill launches A Taste of Ireland
The InterContinental Hong Kong’s Steak House restaurant will be serving A Taste of Ireland from 4 September to 31 October. Offering John Stone Irish Dry Aged Beef, including prime rib, tenderloin and ribeye, other tasty Irish ingredients will be on the menu, such as Kelly oysters from Galway, farm-fresh cheese and organic salmon. The Executive Pastry Chef is also creating a special ice cream dessert made with Killowen farm yoghurt especially for the event.

Carbone announces white truffle menu
Everybody’s favourite New York-Italian restaurant Carbone is celebrating white truffle season with a range of dishes from Chef Billy Otis that capture the flavour of the coveted ingredient. Available from late October through to December, guests can get their hit of Alba truffles from Piedmont, Italy, delivered tableside by the tuxedo-clad captains. Dishes to look out for include Scallop Crudo, Truffle Fettucine and Truffle-Topped Japanese Eggs on Brioche.

The Butchers Club Burger launches new happy hour and Craft Beer Festival
The team at The Butchers Club Burger is launching a new happy hour from 11-30 September. Every day between 5:00-7:00pm, guests can enjoy $30 pints of Goose Island Craft Beer from Chicago, in either the Goose IPA or 312 Urban Wheat Ale varieties.
Then, on 29 October, The Butchers Club Burger will collaborate with Goose Island to bring a Craft Beer Festival to the rooftop of The Secret Kitchen. Over 50 types of beer will be available on the day, including five from local Hong Kong breweries, and a feast will on offer from the restaurant too.

Armani/Aqua launches bento boxes for weekday lunch
You may not initially think of Armani/Aqua when it comes to weekday lunch in Central, but the team at the contemporary Japanese and Italian restaurant has recently launched a collection of tasty bento boxes. Beautifully presented, each box comes with miso and rice and a whole host of beautifully fresh ingredients, including seafood and vegetables, and there’s even a vegetarian version.

Death & Co. pop-up at Ozone
Fans of New York favourite Death & Co. will want to head to Ozone at The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong from 19-23 September, as the team will be bringing its world famous cocktails to HK. For five nights only, Tyler Buhler will lead the bartenders in creating favourites such as Martini and Collins, but we like the sound of Fix, a Don Julio Reposado tequila-based cocktail mellowed with lime, vanilla syrup, mango puree and salt.

Limited edition Truffle & Mushroom Burger at Beef & Liberty

Feather & Bone launches dry-ageing service
Local Hong Kong delicatessen and butcher Feather & Bone has launched a personalised dry-ageing service, so that food lovers can double down of their beef appreciation. A first for Hong Kong, the service allows guests to purchase large pieces of premium beef such as ribeye or short loin and have them aged according to taste. With only nine dry-ageing spots available at the Happy Valley, Central and Clearwater Bay stores, participants can visit the butcher as often as they like to have individual steaks cut off for consumption at home, or opt to have them grilled in-house at the Happy Valley location Executive Chef Eric Taluy.

Wine and dine tour of Italy at Tosca
From 21-23 September, 2017, Chef Pino Lavarra from Tosca at Ritz-Carlton will be hosting a one-of-a-kind wine and dine tour of Italy. Bringing together top wineries and culinary maestros from four key regions – Puglia, Campania, Sicily and Lombardy, all in one menu.

Amber presents Six Hands Dinner

Black Sheep Restaurants announces new opening
The team at Black Sheep Restaurants has just announced that New Punjab Club will open later this month. The 40-seat tandoor grill house will reference post-Colonial Pakistan and India, and Michelin-starred chef Palash Mitra will be at the helm. Crafty Cow launches again with third culture cuisine
Crafty Cow in PoHo is back serving its signature third culture cuisine alongside a huge selection of craft beer. Cocktail collaboration between Antonio Lai and The Coffee Academics

Head Chef Anthony Burd at Mercato has just launched a new menu inspired by the humble tomato. A hugely popular ingredient in Italian cuisine, Burd includes a range of varieties in the new menu, including plum, cherry and heirloom.

3/3rds starts serving dinner menu
Hidden away in an industrial building in Wong Chuk Hang, 3/3rds has just started serving a dinner menu, much to the happiness of its adoring fans. Dinner options continue to be made from scratch in house, with the team sourcing tasty fresh ingredients and even using some of their own homegrown herbs and vegetables from the rooftop garden.
The dog-friendly cafe is offering a broad menu suitable for both vegetarians and carnivores that includes: Chickpeas, Lentils and Aubergine Moussaka; Steak Frites and compressed watermelon salad. The cafe’s signature pizzas will be available at dinner time too.

Executive Chef Chris Grare at Lily & Bloom has just launched a new brunch offering for $495 plus 10% per guest. The all American brunch includes a buffet selection of hot appetizers along with a choice of main and free flow drinks.
The buffet section features healthy salads, a seafood bar and a new pastry and cereal corner, while guests can choose mains such as Eggs Benedict, Croque Madame or Brioche French Toast with candied pecans.

Helmed by Head Chef Harry Chan, Cafe 15 in Camlux Hotel, Kowloon Bay has recently launched new menus for summer.
Along with a revamp of the breakfast buffet and afternoon tea offerings, the restaurant offers a choice of six main course daily, including Smoked Salmon Salad, Pan-Seared Rib Eye Steak and Milk-Fed Lamb Rack spiced with creamed potato gratin.

Kishoku launches new menu featuring Japanese figs
Just in time for summer, Japanese restaurant Kishoku has unveiled four new dishes that incorporate the sweet flavour of figs along with their healing properties. Chef Dragon and his team work with both fresh and dried varieties to bring unique dishes to both the a la carte and omakase menus.
Served as a palate cleanser, the Japanese Summer Salad combines figs from Osaka with aloe and fresh white corn from Hokkaido, while the Fig and Zucchini Flower Tempura sees a fig being wrapped in 30-month-aged prosciutto within a zucchini flower. Other treats include Fig and Crab Monaka with dried fig, Japanese hairy crab and avocado, and Fig Yokan for dessert, which sees a slow-cooked dried fig served with yokan jelly.

Cuisine Cuisine celebrates Yunnan mushrooms
Fresh Yunnan mushrooms are in season, so the team at Cuisine Cuisine have created six unique dishes to showcase their unique flavours and immune-boosting properties. Available for dinner until 17 September, Chef Edwin Tang has selected maitake, morels and cordyceps flowers to define the new additions.
Highlights on the menu include Deep-fried White Maitake and Bombay Duck, Baked Lobster with Fresh Porcini and Portobello Mushroom in Black Pepper and Steamed Pork with Cordyceps Flower in Lotus Leaf.

Tommaso Rigoni appointed Head Chef at Spasso
Having worked at Michelin star restaurants throughout Italy, young chef Tommaso Rigoni has recently been named the new Head Chef at DiVino Group’s Spasso. Wan Chai Vietnamese restaurant Com Banh Mi has launched two new dishes for summer that blend the flavours of Vietnam with local Hong Kong ingredients.
Pho Bo is a Hoi An sliced beef noodle soup that combines beef marrow bone and a mixture of spices to create a light soup base, while Com Ga Hai Nam is the restaurant’s take on Hainan Chicken Rice, served with thai basil and coriander.

New C’est La Viche menu at Bungalow
A stylish lounge by day and a nightclub by evening, Bungalow on Wyndham Street has just introduced a new summer menu to keep you cool during the warmer months. Available until 5 October, guests can indulge in three different types of fresh ceviche along with a selection of wines from Australia and New Zealand that have been matched to highlight the different flavours of each dish.
Sample Ooh La La!, which features chunks of French halibut tossed with fresh mango and passionfruit or try the Nacho Normal Ceviche that blends tender Japanese scallops with jalapenos and orange slices on a bed of crispy tortilla chips. Each ceviche is $138 plus service charge, and is perfect for a light dinner or as an appetizer, while wines such as Stony Bank Sauvignon Blanc start at just $80 per glass.

Upstairs at Belon begins Wednesday Rare Wine Nights
Having just opened above neo-Parisian bistro Belon, cocktail bar Upstairs at Belon will be hosting Wednesday Rare Wine Nights every week to introduce Hong Kongers to a diverse selection of lesser-known wines.
Curated by the restaurant’s Master Sommelier, the weekly event allows both novice wine lovers and aficionados the opportunity to sample top-end bottles at an affordable price. All bottles are restricted allocation in Hong Kong, meaning that guests can try scarce labels alongside Chef Daniel Calvert’s inventive French-inspired dishes.

New menus at Le Rêve
Hidden away in the heart of Causeway Bay, modernist French-Japanese restaurant Le Rêve, has just launched a seasonal summer menu full of high quality Japanese ingredients and classic French flavours.
New signature dishes include Zaru Soba à la chef, which features soba noodles topped with diced fish marinated in white miso and Nihon Risotto made with red king prawns atop a bed of Arborio rice that is cooked in dashi.
The six-course dinner menu starts at $790, while the eight-course menu begins at $1,080. The restaurant also offers a set menu starting at $198 and a four-course brunch menu on the weekends for $488.

Kerry Hotel Hong Kong launches afternoon tea
Hong Kong’s newest hotel, Kerry Hotel Hong Kong, has just launched a Hong Kong-inspired afternoon tea set. Taking place in the Lobby Lounge, guests can enjoy savoury and sweet delights in a space designed by renowned Hong Kong architect and interior designer Andre Fu.
Executive Pastry Chef Julien Gourmelon has created an array of signature desserts that pay homage to Hong Kong, such as Lemon Tart with Ribena Espuma and Crisp Meringue and Opalys White Chocolate and Yuzu Cheese Cake. Savoury bites include Foie Gras Terrine with Toast, Citrus Gel and Dehydrated Orange, and all of the afternoon sets come with unlimited refills of tea, coffee or Ribena. Two well known Hong Kong institutions – InterContinental Hong Kong and Shanghai Tang – have joined together to create a special afternoon tea set for summer. Available in the Lobby Lounge of InterContinental Hong Kong until 17 September, the afternoon tea is served in a signature Shanghai Tang lacquered box and is inspired by the new Jacky Tsai Print Silk Pyjamas from the famed fashion brand.
Items include Sliced Lobster, Gingko Green Pea Purée on Rye Bread and Taro/Mango Opera Cake to reflect the flavours of Asia, along with favourites such as Freshly Baked Scones served with Devonshire Clotted Cream.

New seasonal menu at Cocotte for summer
Chef Petrous Moldovan at Cocotte has prepared a host of fresh, light and healthy dishes to welcome the warmer months in Hong Kong at the restaurant. The Parisian-inspired brasserie’s new options include a range of tasty seafood dishes, perfect to enjoy in the restaurant’s chic surrounds.
The new Poached King Crab Leg is served two ways, with whole pieces of crab leg garnished with fresh avocado and chipotle sauce, and a small bowl of crab meat, cilantro and citrus salad, topped with an avocado espuma and a corn crunch. Chef James Oakley joins Alibi – Wine Dine Be Social
A British native, Chef Oakley started his professional career at Michelin-starred Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in Claridges Hotel, London before working in kitchens across the globe, including Phuket, Malta and Hong Kong.
For his first menu at Alibi, the chef blends Asian and European styles and techniques, creating delicious and innovative dishes. Small plates include Scottish quail eggs with fried leek and summer tomato salad with burrata, while Spanish lamb cooked two ways and beef tartare are highlights from the larger plates menu.

Everyone’s favourite Lebanese restaurant in SoHo has just launched a special summer deal that is sure to put on a smile on your face. Every Saturday and Sunday from 12-5pm, the restaurant’s rooftop will pump reggae tunes as guests chow down on the best kebabs in town.

At the bar, the new cocktail creations are inspired by the literary classic The Jungle Book. Stranger Fruit is made with coriander redistilled Beefeater gin, passion fruit purée, simple syrup, egg white, Angostura aromatic bitters, and seven spice powder, while Does It Burn combines Michter’s bourbon, mezcal, Aperol, Earl Grey and red apple syrup. Mama Malouf launches new menu
Storming onto the Hong Kong scene last year to much excitement from fans of Lebanese cuisine, Mama Malouf in Kennedy town has launched a brand new menu. The number of dishes available has almost doubled in size to reflect the diversity of Lebanon’s cuisine and to celebrate restaurateur Alex Malouf’s heritage.
Whole Roasted Baby Snapper with Chermoula is served with sage potatoes and a vivid purple cabbage salad in a nod to the region’s often underrepresented seafood heritage, while Lebanese Beef Kafta is another new addition to the menu. Those with a sweet tooth will definitely want to try the Turkish Delight Fondue, a new dessert to round out your meal.
