It's that time of the year again and the votes are in for the World’s 50 Best Restaurants; these top Singapore restaurants officially serve the best food in the world
It’s always exciting to see Singapore’s culinary stars get recognition on a global scale, and this year’s World’s 50 Best Restaurants annual award has some pleasant surprises in store.
Restaurant André, the eponymous restaurant showcasing Taiwan-born Chef Andre Chiang’s unique take on Southern French cuisine, has made a spectacular jump from #32 to #14! The chef’s constantly evolving menu remains anchored to his ‘Octaphilosophy’, which ensures every dish contains each of these elements: Unique, Pure, Texture, Memory, Salt, South, Artisan and Terroir. Definitely a quality that impressed judges.
But let’s not forget the restaurants that made it to the very respectable top 100 like Burnt Ends. This bastion of barbecue, helmed by Australian chef Dave Pynt, made its debut on the regional Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2015 list before making its way onto the global edition of the list last year, at a very respectable #70 too. This year, Burnt Ends has jumped forward on the list to a remarkable #53, just narrowly missing a place in the top 50 list.
Making a welcome debut on the list is Odette at #86 – an exemplar of fine dining in Singapore. And if this isn’t reason enough to splurge on this Julien Royer’s culinary creations, check out our Hot 50 Tables review of Odette.
