Munchies to get you through the weekend
It’s official – Gordon Ramsay has said yes! Think we’re off our rocker? You’ll have to read on for the goss. In other breaking news, the latest New York craze, cronuts, has hit our shores! It isn’t waistline friendly, but this snack is mindblowingly amazing. Then there’s brunch in the sky, limited edition cocktails, boxed Asian-Mexican delights, and a wholly revamped Siloso beach of treats.
Add this to your vocab: crodos
The New York phenomenon, cronuts, has hit Singapore. This dream of a pastry is a donut made from croissant dough and has been made possible here by our friends at Da Paolo Gatronomia. From the outset it looks like any ordinary donut, but don’t be fooled, fellow foodies – the pastry has the lightness of a croissant but the satisfying bite of a donut. Da Paolo handmakes these babies in limited quantities each day; choose between the cream crodo with its crème patisserie filling and the chocolate crodo, which is glazed with bittersweet chocolate.
Each crodoo is priced at $4.90 and is available at all Gastronomia outlets.
Let’s go to the C
Look out, TBC, there’s a new beach hangout in town. After a $4 million revamp, C Side at Siloso Beach, Sentosa, is ready to welcome the beach-goers! C Side is made up of 5 beachfront bars and restaurants – Coastes, Bikini Bar, Sand Bar, Makan2, and Flame. Want to walk straight out of the water and into a bar? Need a Bintang? Got kids? It’s a one-destination-fits-all kinda place. More to be unveiled in Hot New Tables next week, stay tuned.
Singapore VS Gordon Ramsay
Here’s an update on our juicy goss – celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has said yes to SingTel’s Hawker Heroes Challenge! Twelve hawkers who specialize in our local faves (chili crab, laksa, nasi lemak, and many more) have been shortlisted, and only 3 will make it to the grand final against Ramsay himself.
Vote for hawkers at Hawker Heroes from now till 2 July, 1159pm. Finalists will be announced on 3 July.

Take it out
One phrase: quick and easy. Take away Asian-Mexican fare from Pistola, the latest take-out resto in Club Street. Have a rice bowl, quesadillas, tacos, or wrap everything in a burrito. The unique Asian-Mexican fusion does more than make up for the small variety – the five toppings include 5-spice pork carnitas, Korean kalbi-style steak with kimchi, and tikka-style chicken. Complete a portion with one of four sides available (rice, tacos, corn, and slaw).
Pistola, 93 Club Street, Singapore 069461, p. 6438 2185. Open Mon-Fri 12pm-230pm and 5pm-12am, Sat 5pm-12am.
