With a suite of traveller-centric functions, this new luxury smartwatch embodies the spirit of Louis Vuitton
No longer just a geeky tech toy, the smartwatch has made an entrance to the luxury watch world by way of Montblanc, Breitling, and now, Louis Vuitton. The French fashion powerhouse’s first foray into luxury wearables is the new Tambour Horizon, a smartwatch with a suite of features geared towards travellers – a subtle nod to the brand’s beginnings.
The 42mm watch is designed in Paris and features a Swiss-made case and technology developed in Silicon Valley. The watch’s Android Wear 2.0 operating system delivers all the features of a smartwatch (except a heart rate tracker) you’ve come to expect. Its distinguishing feature, however, is a physical 24-hour bezel that, paired with its multitude of digital watch faces, allows the user to track multiple time zones – perfect for the savvy jetsetter.
The watch’s most distinctive and revolutionary feature is the “My Flight” tracker, which keeps departing travellers continuously informed of flight times, terminal, and gate information – along with real-time updates on delays and flight duration. The watch’s second exclusive feature is the “City Guide” which gives travellers an at-a-glance look at unmissable sights and gourmet restaurants from seven of the most-visited cities in the world.
The watch also offers the wearer plenty of opportunities to customise the watch to his or her tastes, thanks to custom watch faces and a collection of straps (30 for men and 30 for women) that can be attached with a quick-release system.
