Keong Saik Snacks is hiding a secret
Jason Atherton is putting us to shame.
First, he opened the wildly popular Esquina, then Pollen at Gardens by the Bay, and now Keong Saik Snacks – all in what, seven months?
Dude, at least give the rest of us a chance!
Keong Saik Snacks is a causal bistro offering a blend and twist of local and British cafe culture and iconic comfort food from around the world.
True to his Brit roots, the menu includes the classic Fish & Chips, only done the Atherton way – Fish & Oysters served with homemade tartar sauce and drizzled with Maldon salt and malt vinegar. There’s also Jason’s Very Hot Dog topped with tangy ketchup lime, crispy shallots, English Cheddar, avocado, and jalapeños.
And of course Jason Atherton just has to one up everyone else. Tuna Tartare here is served DIY style where you get to mix the ingredients together. For the sweet-happy, we hear their Doughnuts with Cinnamon (served with vanilla Chantilly or caramel) is pretty ace.
Sounds like this industrial-chic bistro is worth a visit, right? Here’s our all-important tip: you must go, because those who snoop around enough will be handsomely rewarded.
In the spirit of good journalism, we’re not at liberty to say what Keong Saik Snacks is hiding even though we really, really want to. What we can reveal is that maybe if you stick around long enough, you might overhear a special password floating around somewhere. Who knows what this password will unlock?
Just go hungry. And thirsty. And snoop around the neighbourhood while you’re at it.
(But you didn’t hear this one from us.)
