Ditch the rush hour crowds and settle down for authentic Italian food like Florentine steak, pasta, tiramisu and more
Dining in town is too often a hectic, stressful experience. You’ve got to deal with the crowds and hunt for parking before finally getting seated cheek by jowl in a crowded, noisy resto. Now that’s hardly anyone’s idea of a pleasant evening out, is it? So if it’s serenity, calm, and impeccable Italian ambience you’re after, don’t jostle with the city crowds! Take a drive down to La Barca in the sleepy suburbs of Katong for a wholesome meal with the fam.
Tucked away in Goodman Arts Centre, Michelin-star Executive Chef, Michele Sorrentino, has made La Barca a prime destination for Singaporean foodies looking for authentic Italian classics. His philosophy is simple: Provide quality food, expertly prepared with fresh and organic ingredients. The talented and creative kitchen team stick to traditional Italian methods (some passed down through generations), with a touch of modern flair.
Start off your dining experience with rustic Tuscan starters like the oven-baked eggplant with mozzarella, parmesan, tomato sauce and fresh basil – a homely Tuscan classic that’s Italian-grandma-approved. Of course, we can’t not mention the pasta. La Barca does up fab exemplars of modern Italian cuisine like the classic carbonara. La Barca’s rendition of the dish eschews cream, opting instead for the traditional Parmesan cheese and egg.
Dining in a group? Satisfy those meat munchies with the positively massive mouth-watering Fiorentina steak, a premium grain-fed black angus from ranger valley, Australia, served medium-rare. Weighing in at 1-1.6kg, this massive steak comfortably feeds four demanding diners. If you’re lucky enough to still have room in those tums, end on a sweet note with the divine alcohol-free tiramisu – delish!
