In this month’s edition of Hot New Cafes: Hustle Co., Lickety, Ometosando Koffee and more
If you live for the weekends like we do, you’d get our total addiction for coffee, brunch and cafes. Scouring for new cafes is a habit we can’t kick (and don’t intend to). For October’s Hot New Cafes, we’ve got a couple of exciting ones in store, including a pastel ice cream wonderland, a home decor garden centre slash cafe, and the famed Ometosando Koffee.
Double Joy Lifestyle Garden Centre
We may be cheating just a little bit here as the cafe arm of this lifestyle garden centre hasn’t opened just yet. But we can’t resist it – Double Joy gives us serious Kim Soo (a home decor store slash cafe in Bali) vibes. Everything you need for an island-inspired home can be found here – think large woven baskets made of plant materials and large potted plants – as well as candles by Sohum Eco. Word is that the cafe will open in November, and will serve cuppas and cakes – great for you to put up your feet up after shopping.

Hustle Co
Brunch and beers – why the heck not? At Hustle Co, craft beers steal the show. If you simply can’t choose from ales, ciders and alcoholics ginger beers, get the beer sampling set (five for $20) to go with brunch staples of pancakes, toast, and steak and eggs.
Hustle Co., 52 Craig Road, Singapore 089690
1KS
Brought to you by Park Bench Deli (our favourite sandwich cafe in our Telok Ayer ‘hood), 1KS is for the worker bee. Located at a co-working space, 1KS is great for casual business meals. On the menu are hearty sandwiches like Cheese Steak and Turkey Panini, as well as avocado and healthy peanut butter toasts.

Lickety
New to Bussorah Street is Lickety: a pastel wonderland serving up Instagrammable desserts to get you squealing. Have your ice cream in an egglet waffle, and topped with all the sweet treats your heart desires: they’ve got everything from sprinkles and cookies to sauces and cereal.

Ometosando Koffee
This famous Japanese coffee chain is finally open, and judging by the snaking queues, it’s set to live up to our expectations. Renowned for its smooth cappuccinos and baked custard cubes, the Singapore arm is now open at Downtown Gallery. The Iced Koffees are a work of art; order the Iced Cappucino or an Iced Mocha – these come topped with thick bubble foam and cocoa powder.
