Guzman y Gomez does Mexican right for every kind of appetite with a side of eco-friendly packaging!
Say aye if you find yourself craving a good Mexican meal every other week (or more often – no judgment). Who can blame you: Mexican food, when done right, is downright incredible with its explosive flavours, many textures and comfort food feels. When the cravings hit, consider stuffing face with grub from Mexican taqueria Guzman y Gomez (GYG).
Ever since the Australian brand’s franchise opened shop in 2013, they’ve been dishing out crowd pleasers like the massive burrito that can feed a small town, soft shell tacos, crispy nachos slathered in melted cheese and delectable salad bowls with meat toppings (hello, slow-cooked beef) of your choice. Oh, my guac! We cannot talk about Guzman y Gomez without spending sufficient time drooling over the guacamole. From avocados to tomatoes, all the produce used is super fresh and specially sourced from Australian farms. And it shows…
And you can’t miss the sheer size of every dish. Better build up an appetite or just order of the new mini menu. Yup, there are smaller versions of burritos, enchiladas, bowls and everything else you’d like to munch on. It doesn’t stop there – the breakfast menu has got the likes of guacamole on sourdough, breakfast burritos and scrambled eggs. Head to the outlet at Tanjong Pagar Centre (there’s coffee too!) and Chevron House for a feisty start to the day.
Best part? You don’t have to travel too far to treat yourself to good Mexican at Guzman y Gomez. In January 2019, a seventh outlet is launching in Singapore at Orchard Gateway. And if you’d rather have it delivered to your doorstep or cater for birthday lunches at the office (like we do), GYG is on Deliveroo, Foodpanda and Grab Food.
Apart from saving us from getting hangry, Guzman y Gomez is also doing its bit to save the planet – the brand is transitioning to bagasse packaging (made from the fibrous leftover of sugarcane) that is 100% biodegradable.
Side note: GYG is totally transparent about the nutritional value of the food. The brand’s website happily displays the precise breakdown of every single thing on the menu. There’s also an allergens table that makes life easier for vegans, vegetarians and gluten/lactose/soy intolerant folks. Plus, there are plenty of gluten free options on the menu!
