Down Syndrome Association Singapore is celebrating World Down Syndrome Day on the 23rd of March at One Punggol Celebration Square together with Guest of Honour Mr Eric Chua, Senior Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Social and Family Development, as well as the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, on the 23rd of March from 8am to 3pm for World Down Syndrome Day at One Punggol Celebration Square.
A key highlight of the carnival is the iconic Buddy Walk, symbolising camaraderie along the developmental journey with individuals with Down Syndrome, alongside their families. Anticipating 500 participants including members, beneficiaries, partners, and members of the community, the 1-km walk around One Punggol promises to be a unifying experience. The event will also showcase talents of members with Down Syndrome and community partners, featuring games and stalls selling crafts and delectable food items.
DSA invites everyone to wear colourful mismatched socks to embrace differences and show their support for the Down Syndrome community. Chosen for their resemblance to chromosomes, colourful mismatched socks represent the diverse capabilities of individuals with Down Syndrome. #RockYourSocks is a fun way to raise awareness for Down Syndrome and End the Stereotypes.
