Singapore Specials Day, an exciting community event celebrating the unique spirit of our local dogs, is set to unite dog lovers and create a lasting paw print record in Singapore’s history books.
The event, organized by Hope for Animals in collaboration with the Singapore Specials Club a community-led support group and Singapore’s Animal and Veterinary Service (AVS), will take place on July 15, 2023, at East Coast Park, Parkland Green.
With the support of local businesses and sponsors, Singapore Specials Day aims to raise awareness and promote the well-being and adoption of Singapore Specials, also known as local mixed-breed or stray dogs. These dogs hold a special place in the hearts of many Singaporeans and the event aims to challenge the misunderstood stereotypes surrounding them and showcase their true potential.
The highlight of the event will be the historic Paw Print activity, where attendees are encouraged to bring their furry friends to contribute to the most number of paw prints recorded in the Singapore Book of Records. This monumental feat aims to showcase the unity and love shared between dog owners and their Singapore Specials companions.
Senior Minister of State Tan Kiat How will be joining the event’s Pet Walk and the record-breaking Paw Print activity, making it an extraordinary and memorable experience for all participants. Senior Minister Tan is an advocate for the breed, having adopted two Singapore Specials of his own.
In addition to the Paw Print activity, Singapore Specials Day will feature a wide range of activities and attractions for both pets and their owners. Attendees can enjoy interactive games, contests, and workshops on pet care, behaviour training, and responsible pet ownership. Pet-friendly vendors will offer treats, toys, accessories, and unique merchandise inspired by adopted Singapore Specials.
An adoption drive will also be taking place in collaboration with six Animal Welfare Groups (AWGs): Animal Lovers League, Causes For Animals, Exclusively Mongrels, Friends of 7, PawsAngels, and Purely Adoption.
Admission to Singapore Specials Day is free, and all pet lovers, families, and individuals are invited to join in the celebration. Whether you are a proud owner of a Singapore Special, considering adoption, or simply want to have a day filled with furry fun, Singapore Specials Day promises to be an event that will leave a lasting pawprint on your heart.
