One of our favourite spots for a satisfying group dinner, New Ubin Seafood is a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant known for its delicious array zi char staples and Western-inspired creations. No zi char feast is complete without chilli crab – Sri Lankan crab covered in a sweet-spicy sauce, with mantous (deep-fried buns) on the side to soak up the leftover sauce. The best part? You can get as messy as you like in the comfort of your own home. Another specialty that’s just as tasty, the barramundi fillet is stir-fried in sambal sauce and topped with chinchalok (fermented shrimp). Shiok!
As for the appetisers, the salted egg soft shell crab is a seriously addictive dish (you’ve been warned). And if that’s not enough, we also recommend the crispy har cheong kai (fried chicken wings in shrimp paste batter).
