Not just a food delivery service, Deliveroo’s new space has us excited over its slick features and futuristic cubby holes…
We know and love Deliveroo for saving us from late-night hunger pangs and providing fuel for lazy days in. But now, this iconic food delivery service is getting the limelight for its new dining space, deliveroo food market, with futuristic tech alongside well-loved bites…
Are food lockers the future?
Deliveroo’s second dine-in site (and third editions site) at Alice @ Mediapolis is taking the tech game up a notch with futuristic smart lockers, thanks to a collaboration with eatsa, a San Francisco-based automation company.
We simply placed our orders at self-service kiosks, decided whether to dine in or take it away, and picked it up from one of the cubbies once we received a notification on the digital status board. These nifty little lockers will even display your name on the door (which doubles as a digital screen!) – just give it two taps to claim your food.
The 3800 square feet space (that’s a seating area for about 40 people) is also decked out in the Deliveroo’s signature shade of teal, which serves as a pretty background for all our Instagrammable food photos.
Say hello to your fave eats
There are plenty of options within these brightly painted walls. Here are some of the highlights…
We’re getting our gyros fix from Blu Kouzina. This Greek taverna fronts Lucky Souvlaki at the food market, alongside its nutritionist-certified brand, VIOS. The latter serves up Mediterranean grain bowls for every need, from post-workout fuel to a detoxifying lunch. (Psst: these brands are available exclusively at Deliveroo!)
There are also hearty burgers from Omakase Burger, or the sweet and savoury Korean fried chicken from Bonchon.
Craving a warm soupy lunch while it’s raining outside? NamNam’s comforting bowl of pho warms the soul. And when we have meetings to run to, we’ll at least grab a banh mi to go to keep our stomachs from rumbling in the middle of a serious discussion…
The Japanese food lovers in our crew were also pleased to find Ezo Hokkaido Eats (expect Japanese curry, rice bowls and the like) and The Flying Squirrel (bentos, sushi, soba and more) there as well.
Plus, we love how we can top our meals off with sweet treats from Magnum and Ben & Jerry’s, or a cuppa from Nineteen95’s espresso bar. Got a craving for ice cream or coffee? It’s all there.
Fun fact: these establishments were all chosen based on user demand and ordering patterns on the Deliveroo app! Which means they are truly the crowd favourites of the lot. Which is your fave?
Riders get their space too
We love how the brand makes an effort to take care of the riders who are doing the hard work of transporting our food. Deliveroo’s new site will have a dedicated resting room for riders, with seating space, power cables to charge their phones and water provided. Nice touch, guys.
