Here for one weekend only, trade the usual Sunday roasts for a wholesome and customised menu by Tokyo-based culinary whiz and owner of modern bistro & éclé
Roasts, chocolate eggs and hot cross buns are some of the delish grub we look forward to every Easter, but having the same ol’ spread every year can get a lil’ boring, not to mention that it’d be of no help to our waistlines! Good thing Capella Singapore has a healthy treat in store for us this weekend, with a special appearance by award-winning guest chef Olivier Rodriguez of Tokyo’s neo-bistro restaurant & éclé who’ll serve up a contemporary interpretation of traditional Mediterranean cuisine. Here’s what you can expect.
1. Sample a novel and healthier way of cooking…
Together with Capella Singapore’s Culinary Director David Senia, Chef Oliver will be bringing a rice-inspired twist to the table using Coulicious, a concept that combines Japanese grains and traditional Italian and French cooking techniques in the creation of these Mediterranean plates.
2. …prepared by an award-winning chef
Chef Olivier has worked at various Michelin-starred establishments over the years, and most notably with Signature in Mandarin Oriental Tokyo. Under his watch, the restaurant was given and had kept its one-star rating in the Michelin Guide for seven years.
3. Load up on (guilt-free) food that’s to die for
Dig into a four- or five-course meal at seafront restaurant The Knolls, kicking off with a yummy appetiser of steamed apple and foie gras served with dry fruit compote and cardamom-flavoured apple coulis. You’ll want to save some room for the main attraction, a spice-flavoured organic rice dish cooked al dente with red wine, and served with beet coulis.
4. Take part in an intimate cooking sesh with Chef Olivier
If you’re a budding chef yourself, or just want to recreate the dishes in your own kitchen, sign for the one and only MasterClass with Chef Olivier, where he will demonstrate the secrets behind his masterpieces. After that, sit back and nosh on a nourishing three-course set lunch in the homely Chef’s Table.
5. Before capping things off at an Easter bash
And what better way to end a gastronomic Easter weekend than with a brunch blowout at Capella’s picturesque Grand Ballroom Foyer? Take in stunning views of the greenery while feasting on a spread of Chef Olivier’s signature dishes, and watch as he whips up his mouthwatering creations live. The young’uns will have a blast too, with food stations just for kids and exciting activities like an Easter Egg hunt.
A delicious and guilt-free Easter weekend? We’re totally in.
