SAM’s agenda for Singapore Art Week is eclectic yet sublime, and we’re letting you in on the must-sees...
Singapore Art Week never fails to intrigue. At the Singapore Art Museum we’re indulging in rock tunes, learning to create our own VR projects, experiencing local artworks and so much more. Here’s a rundown of the highlights.
Take a walk on the stranger side
If an artsy and interactive hangout is what you’re after, Kult and SAM’s community carnival is our pick. Welcome to the stranger side: would you prefer immersing yourself in a life-sized board game or a surprise theatre performance? Alternatively, make your own props for a trippy projection show (pictured top).
On the Stranger Side of Things: SAM Community Carnival, 20 Jan, 11am – 6pm
Show some love for local art
The President’s Young Talents exhibition spotlights artworks by our most promising local artists. These include Yanyun Chen’s examination of trauma with ‘The scars that write us’; Weixin Quek Chong’s exploration of material forms with ‘sft crsh cntrl’ (pictured top); Zarina Muhammad’s depiction of Southeast Asian mythical rituals and magic with ‘Pragmatic Prayers for the Kala at the Threshold’ and more. Check it out before it ends on 27 January!
