High fives for local collaborations! Theatre company Dream Academy and creative consultancy Present Purpose have teamed up for The Henderson Project, a two-part underground party concept that’s more than the sum of its parts.
Anything that contain the words “play”, “party”, “underground”, “film screenings” and “art” all combined is a winner in our books, so we’re pretty stoked about the two upcoming events. The first installment, happening on Friday, 6 February 2015, consists a screening of Our Hobby is Depeche Mode, an unusual and poignant documentary inspired by the band and their fans, plus a post-party at midnight with DJ Aldrin and KFC on decks. There are three screening times – at 7pm, 9pm, and 11pm – with a specially commissioned 15-minute audio-visual set by DJ Aldrin and M/SF/T of Non/Aligned in-between. Pop over earlier to grab a drink from the bar, as well as some art and merchandises on sale. Tickets are $15 for each screening, and entry to the after party is free.
If you have a thing for the spoken word, you’ll want to get in on the second installment, The Revolution Will Not Be Televised, for a night of art, poetry, rhymes, beats, brass and hip hop. Seven-piece London hip hop band Lazy Habits will be performing live alongside The Sam Willow’s Benjamin Kheng, soul vocalist Michaela Theresa, hip hop artist ShiGGa Shay, and DJ collective Matteblacc. On the mic, too, are Marc Nair, Charlene Shepherdson, Marylyn Tan, and Allee Koh with thought-provoking readings. Tickets are $20 for Dream Academy’s subscribers, $25 for standard advance purchase, and $30 at the door.
The Henderson Project will be held at #02-01, 203 Henderson Road, Henderson Industrial Park, Singapore 159547. To get your tickets, call 9726 7866/6278 0377 (office hours), email [email protected], or visit the ticketing sales office at the above venue.
