Asia’s 50 best restaurants unveiled
The votes have been cast and the results are official – here’s what you need to know about Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards 2014!
Last year’s winner Narisawa (Tokyo, Japan), helmed by legendary Chef Yoshihiro Narisawa, has been dethroned! The new champion is none other than 2013’s second runner-up Nahm (Bangkok, Thailand). Chef David Thompson’s Nahm also holds double honours as The S. Pellegrino Asia’s Best Restaurant in Thailand.
Fans of Restaurant Andre will be glad to know they have retained their standing as The S. Pellegrino Best Restaurant in Singapore, and received a respectable sixth ranking on the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list. Chef Andre Chiang has also picked up the Chef’s Choice Award, having garnered an impressive number of votes from his peers in the Asia’s 50 best Restaurants list.
Other top nosh restaurants, which have made Singapore proud, include a mix of established veterans and exciting new names – Waku Ghin (#4), Iggy’s (#12), Les Amis (#14), Jaan (#17), new entry Tippling Club (#23) Shinji by Kanesaka (#35), and Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck (#40).
Some notable mentions are Amber (#4), The S. Pellegrino Best Restaurant in China, and JungSik (#20). Not only are they the highest new entry in this year’s list, they have earned the place of The S. Pellegrino Best Restaurant in Korea. Bukhara (#27) is The S. Pellegrino Best Restaurant in India; Nihonbashi (#44) takes The S. Pellegrino Best Restaurant in Sri Lanka, while Sarong (#47) is one to watch as the new S. Pellegrino Best Restaurant in Indonesia.
