Mark your calendars this November for the Singapore River Festival where you can catch impressive light displays, snap an Instagram-worthy art installation, fly an LED kite and more.
It’s no River Thames, but it’s just as charming if you ask us! Besides loads of things to do riverside (and of course, eat) at one of the city’s hottest nightlife spots, The Singapore River Festival 2017 is a two-day extravaganza along Boat Quay, Robertson Quay and Clarke Quay. This time the theme is “Turn up the River” –so expect immersive attractions including a mind-blowing display of lights, an outdoor dancefloor and art installation, as well as a riverside carnival featuring fun festival activities like kite-flying. Here are some of the buzzing highlights, including a number of firsts, to catch at the iconic quays.
Follow the beat of The Regatta Rumble at the Singapore River Festival
Get those cameras ready for a smashing display of kinetic visuals along Boat Quay for the night river regatta — a first in 20 years! Want to know the best places to catch all the Regatta Rumble action? Simply trail the beating sounds of the thundering dragon boat drums, and it will guide you to the Boat Quay Waterfront where regional dragon boat warriors will be competing in a night race.
Feast your eyes on the biggest LED kite display
Another first for the festival, the massive spectacle will be displayed at Clarke Quay Central promenade where the Singapore River skyline will be transformed into a galaxy of over 20 luminous kites and laser projections. Witness a dazzling spectacle above as the kites dance in the sky and trail each other to form hypnotic flow. You can also attempt a dig at flying one of these bad boys during trial sessions at the open field next to Riverside Point.
Turn up the night as the rave continues
The Lit Up party will hype up party-goers on the other side of the river at Clarke Quay, where the Fountain Square will be turned into the first-of-its-kind dancefloor and art combo installation with the help of advanced light projections. So, feel the music and dance the night away in this outdoor discotheque.
Tickets are available at $8 (early bird), $10 (doors) here.
Put your brain to the test at the largest trivia night
Have a soft spot for brainteasers? Flex those brain muscles and test yourself at the first ever mass trivia competition. Located at Robertson Walk, the Trivia Zone invites all challengers and their squads to pit their wits on subjects such as general knowledge, pop culture and local history.
