Celebrate your love for craft beer at Kult Kafe, Park Bench Deli, Paulaner Brauhaus, Molly Malones, Smith Street Taps and more
From coffee festivals to Negroni weeks, these bevvie-centric events are testament to Singapore’s dedication for being not just a food capital, but one for drinks as well. And if you’ve been following our unquenchable thirst for craft beer with our features on craft beer stores and craft beer happy hours – not to mention the Craft Beer Festival that got us blissfully boozy earlier this year – then you’ll know why this event’s brimming with hype in our books. Yes, craft beer connoisseurs, Singapore Craft Beer Week is back for its third annual edition. Get ready. Get thirsty.
With the demand and appreciation of craft beer constantly climbing, the Singapore Craft Beer Week – occurring eight days over 20-27 August – is an event that’s welcomed with open arms (and bellies). 40 outlets islandwide will play host to craft beer-related sub-events, helping usher in what organisers call a “dawn of a new Golden Age”. But before you get ‘hopping’ mad from deciding which activities to go for, we’ve eased the process and done the picking for you – all you need to do, is show up and drink up.
Singapore’s oldest microbrewery turns 20
Wanna know the secrets to how Paulaner Bräuhaus has lasted for two decades? Well ponder no more, ’cos Singapore’s first German Microbrewery will be conducting free tours of its facility for the public to get an inside snoop… we mean, scoop.
There’s gonna be a block party at Molly Malones
Yet another anniversary occurring in conjunction with Singapore Craft Beer Week, the iconic Archipelago Brewery (Singapore’s biggest microbrewery) turns 10 by spilling the festivities onto the streets. With live music and pints of Singapore Blonde Ale from afternoon ’til late, it’s gonna be a boozy bash, this one!
Sunday on the Hill… with a twist
Sideshow and Kult Kafé’s chilled-out Sunday party series ups the ante, by hosting the official launch party of Singapore Craft Beer Week. Think a family-friendly fiesta of smooth beats, BBQ, live graffiti, and pop-up stalls with loads of craft beer suppliers. Talk about weekends done right.
Something’s brewing at this hawker centre bar
All craft beer aficionados should already be familiar with this secret waterhole at Chinatown Complex, and it’s no surprise to see it involved in this year’s edition. Smith Street Taps transforms from hawker hideout into international craft beer forum, as it brings down brewers from around the world for an enlightening social session where you can tap deep into the world of craft beer.
Meet Singapore’s first female brewmaster
Who says beer brewing is just for the blokes? Representing the ladies is Crystalla Huang, a brewer shaking up the local craft beer industry. For just $28++ at Red Dot Brewhouse, you can sample a tasting flight of six beers concocted personally by Huang, and you can bet that these bad boys (or girls, more like it) will surely pack a punch.
Park Bench Deli goes Japanese?
You read that right! Our fave sandwich stuffers along Telok Ayer Street are having a Japanese makeover just for Singapore Craft Beer Week, with a promotional Japanese menu and Hitachino Nest Brewery’s own Youichi Kiuchi in attendance for a sesh of beer and banter. Ever wanted to try the Limited Edition “Koen no Benchi Yuzu Golden Ale”? Here’s your chance.
