Weekend scoop for foodies
What’s your plan? In case you don’t have one yet, this cheeky weekend itinerary is sure to please the gourmand in you.
Friday Night Out
Nothing says TGIF like a lavish night out. Kick off with an indulgent buffet spread at Swissotel The Stamford’s Café Swiss. There’s no better time than next week, as Café Swiss will be throwing their 8th birthday bash on 11 April. Dig into their famed buffet spread, relish live tunes from the Swiss Alphorn Ensemble, and knock back a selection of Swiss aperitifs. Join in the cake cutting action at 830pm and you’ll get to take home some exclusive Swiss treats too!
Looking to chill over vino instead? Head over to O’Batignolles (aka Singapore’s slice of Paris) for their April Sauvignon Blanc promotion! Imported directly from independent vineyards in France, these unique white wines are available at a special $10++ to $13++ a glass. If you’re still feeling peckish, order up a platter of their signature cheeses and cold cuts.
Weekend Brunch
Waking up early during the weekends has never been so delicious. Starting this Saturday, from 930am to 3pm, Violet Oon’s Kitchen is rolling out a series of new brunch bites. Try the tau kwa pow, fried beancurd stuff with diced chicken, prawns, water chestnuts, and cucumber tossed in a delicate sesame oyster sauce, nyonya roti babi, sliced bread topped with minced prawns, pork, and spices, and end on a sweet note with the innovative durian chendol pannacota. Fret not, old favourites like brioche French toast drizzled in gula Melaka banana sauce, local big breakfast, and crab cake egg benedict are still on the menu.
Dempsey Hill has proven to be a gourmet haven and you can expect brunch to be an equally decadent affair. Chopsuey Café is offering a spread of Anglo Chinese fusion dishes, handmade dim sum, decadent desserts, and most importantly, hangover cures for all you hungry weekenders. You’ll be spoilt for choice with dishes like smoked braised duck and herb omelette, sweet corn, coriander & potato rosti benedict, and Chopsuey teriyaki burger.
Weekend Dinner
Go Italian this weekend! Jamie’s Italian delights with a spruced up menu – think 15 lip-smacking new dishes – this April. From finger-licking good Italian spiced chicken wings with smoked arrabbiata sauce, traditional truffle tagliatelle, wild mushroom and smoked mozzarella risotto, and a to-die-for rippled pavlova. The littlies are in for a treat too with the new puppy dog – a grilled herb sausage hot dog served with a side of crinkle-cut wedges and signature ‘shake me salad’.
