You don’t have to wonder what it’s like to be a slick, crime solving, Sherlock Holmes-type hero anymore, thanks to Escape Hunt Singapore.
Part of a new era of “escape rooms”, Escape Hunt gives terms like RPG a whole new meaning. The idea? Work against the clock to play detective with the gang. Your goal is to figure out clues, solve a mystery, and ultimately escape from the room in which you’re trapped. It may sound simple (CSI and Criminal Minds surely taught us a few things, right?), but, from experience, we can tell you it’s not.
Curiosity got the better of us at Honeycombers, and we decided to give the Escape Hunt experience a shot. We were split into groups of four and thrown (okay, not literally, we were getting into character) into different rooms with different mysteries to solve. And each time we thought we got a new lead, it seemed to do nothing but open another can of worms. Challenging? Yes. Exciting? Yes!
No help from Google either (where’s the fun in that?): you’re told to leave all belongings (especially phones!) in an area just outside the game rooms. And no, you’re not gonna be stuck for all eternity if the team’s not making any progress; the staff will step in to give you helpful clues if you buzz for assistance. Admittedly, the rooms are dark with antiques and oddities everywhere to add to the creepiness, but fret not jumpy ones – each game was designed by a Mensa member and stays clear of dark and twisted themes that fuel your worst nightmare.

After all the fun is over, head on outside to the common area for some R&R on the plush sofas, complete with free cookies and tea while the staff give you the lowdown on how well you did (game duration, number of times you asked for help). Once that’s done, you can strike a pose with your pals with quirky props and adorable detective costumes.
Eager to give this thrilling, immersive real-life escape game a whirl? Escape Hunt’s conveniently located in the heart of town, just two minutes away from Somerset (or Dhoby Ghaut) MRT station. In fact, it doesn’t matter which part of the world you’re in because you can find Escape Hunt in several major cities, including New York, Bangkok, Amsterdam, Bali, and plenty more.
