It’s time to bust another move, you dancing queens and boogie kings. In July’s edition of Rave & Repeat, we list out the best parties in Singapore for both EDM zealots and techno hunters. From beachside festivals to secret shindigs, and parties in clubs featuring legends in trance and acid house – these hip happenings will have you staying out all night long.
Interstellar with Xhin and X’ho: 7 July at 31A Scotts Road
Just when you think you’ve heard about every hush-hush shindig in the scene, more pop up stealthily thanks to the nomadic folks from Interstellar. The promoters are throwing a party at 31A Scotts Road (even we don’t know what to expect) featuring two of the industry’s most esteemed titans – the experimental Xhin and his dystopian soundscapes; and the original anarchist whose voice everyone respects, X’ho.

Dannic: 7 July at Zouk
Just like how there’d be no Hardwell without Tiësto, the baton has now been passed from the former to this Dutch heavyweight. Personally groomed and mentored by the biggest DJ in the world, Dannic now stands resiliently on his own with his colossal brand of big-room house – perfect for all you EDM lovers out there.

Integrity Records 1st Anniversary: 8 July at Headquarters by The Council
Two of the scene’s most reputable entities come together – promoters, The Council; and homegrown label, Integrity Records. The latter is the brainchild of house and techno DJ-producer, Eddie Niguel (another big name in the circuit), and it’ll be commemorating its first anniversary in a party pad where many underground punters call home. It’ll feature the imprint’s very own Kocleo from Italy, Niguel himself, and The Council’s resident feline, CATS ON CRACK.

Blu Jaz Café 13th Year Anniversary: 8 July at Blu Jaz Café
For one night only, Blu Jaz Café will be transformed into a music village with all sorts of streetside shenanigans for its 13th birthday. Expect a globetrotting soundtrack of world music from live bands, Men In Groove, New Stream Brass Band, and Ireson Latin Band; and chill out with dancefloor-friendly cuts from DJs, Anand Nair, Kenneth Francis, Jag, and Kartik Keyan.

Sunday at The Shed: 9 July at Labrador Park
Our go-to remedy for chasing away the Monday blues, Sideshow’s monthly Sunday boogie pops up once more at the place where it all began. This family-friendly (and dog-friendly!), all-day fiesta in Labrador Park always delivers chilled-out vibes with its alfresco setting, BBQ booths, and laid-back tunes of funk, soul, Afrobeat and more. Behind the decks from 3pm to 10pm will be Dave Code, Fresh S, RAH and Senja from Revision Music, and Sideshow’s own Stew Bamrah and Shellsuit.

Eden Music Festival: 15 July at Wave House Sentosa
ZoukOut isn’t the only big, beachside EDM festival you’ll find in the scene – just ask the lads behind Blackwhite Productions. Together with Attica – another commercial-friendly club in Clarke Quay – they’ve built an EDM-natured paradise with this themed festival. And if it’s anything like past events, you can expect a playground of debauchery and massive party anthems.

Dauwd: 15 July at Kilo Lounge
A versatile artiste whose trajectory on the decks can never be predicted, Dauwd is more than your orthodox pusher of four-to-the-floor. His delivery of house music ranges from minimal to tech, and even takes the form of experimental electronica that’s won endorsements from labels, Kompakt and Ninja Tune. If you’re yearning for music that takes you on a journey, this party is your best bet.

Rasa Fiesta Singapura: 15 July at Jiak Chuan Road
If you’re always wondering where all the rum’s gone, then you’ve probably heard of this rum festival, Rasa Fiesta Singapura. The event will culminate in a street party on 15 July, where Jiak Chuan Road will be transformed into a bustling Tiki Festival with a dance set from DJ Crossfire. Ready to unleash your inner Caribbean?

A Guy Called Gerald: 21 July at Kilo Lounge
If Madchester and acid house are terms that get you fuzzy or buzzy, you won’t wanna miss this historical party. Pioneer of the acid house movement of the ’80s, A Guy Called Gerald (you might also know him as one part of 808 House) swings by to school ravers on quality dance music. Expect the legend to dish out everything from techno to house, and hold your tears if you hear him drop his iconic track, “Voodoo Ray”.

Alex M.O.R.P.H.: 22 July at Canvas
Ready to be entranced? If you’re more the sort who prefers shimmering melodies, cherubic vocals and rolling beats, then trance is probably your cup of tea. Returning for another trance top-up at Canvas is Alex M.O.R.P.H., a veteran who’s been in the game for decades, and has been endorsed by the likes of Paul Van Dyk and Armin van Buuren. This one’s gonna be an emotional ride.
