Massages, mouthwatering brunch, cosy rooms and a prime locale in the Seminyak district – it’s no wonder this hotel is popular for mother-daughter bonding time
How to make your Bali break over a four-day long weekend one to remember? Go when your Mum’s in town, of course!
Why did I pick Bali? Well, Bali offers a great range of different things to do: walking in the rice terraces, playing with the monkeys in the Monkey Forest in Ubud, going on a frenetic shopping spree, café-hopping for tantalising coffee and cakes, and – my personal R&R must-do – sunbathing in Seminyak.
Logically, The Marriott Courtyard Seminyak was our choice of hotel for its central location in the heart of Seminyak. Situated an equal distance from the beach and main shopping street, we were able to catch both delightful sunsets and hot bargains. Therapy, in a visual and retail sense!
The hotel also scores points for its distinctive atmosphere – as you walk in the direction of the lobby, there is an emerald-hued area full of vegetation, giving the hotel a peaceful, relaxing ambience. Behind the vegetation lies the hotel’s hidden pool, with a bar from which you can order your drinks while swimming or while sunbathing on colourful bean bags (slumpworthy!). Cool and trendy – that’s how The Marriott Courtyard rolls.
Our rooms were no exception. Bedazzled upon opening the door to our suite, my Mum and I found the interior awash with homely tones of white and brown, enhancing the room with a modern and traditional Balinese feel. And we admit; what better way to welcome us to our personal paradise with complimentary macarons? Seduced, we were.
Speaking of food, one of the best things at the Marriott Courtyard was its mouthwatering breakfast; amazing choice of food from everywhere! How could we resist its hearty spread of patisserie and eggs benedict? And we also had a weakness for the pancakes with fresh strawberries and maple syrup. Much yum!
Apart from spending a relaxing time at the hotel, Seminyak also offers a range of different things to do, from cocktail-sipping at KU DE TA or Potato Head, crazy shopping at the Bali Boat Shed, Polette or Cup of Love, having breaks in lovely cafes like The Coffee Library or Shelter, or simply getting Balinese massages. All of these activities were the best way to spend some quality time my Mum; I’m sure she’d agree!
My top five moments at the Marriott Courtyard:
- Being spoilt for choice with the mouthwatering breakfast buffet
- Indulging a moment of peace at the Spa
- Sipping a cocktail on the floating bags while sunbathing
- Enjoying massages together with my Mum
- Getting into the oh-so comfy bed at night
