In the Neighbourhood: Batu Belig
Connecting buzzing Seminyak to laid back Berawa, Batu Belig is fast becoming the street to shop, eat, and drink in south Bali. Buy some fabulous Indonesian antiques, dreamy organic bamboo linen, or gorgeous kids clothes. Then nab a daybed and a cocktail to revel in the sunset at Mozaic Beach Club followed by some finger lickin’ ribs at Naughty Nuri’s.
One word of advice: it’s a long street and, unfortunately, there are no footpaths so don’t try and walk it in one go. Get in the car and be prepared to stop and start or hop on a scooter and pull in whenever you see something that takes your fancy.
Eat & Drink
The atmosphere is light and breezy at Watercress and they serve deliciously fresh breakfast and lunch! For something a little bit more wicked, head directly to the iconic rib joint, Naughty Nuri’s, where they pump out mouthwatering ribs and lethal martinis. Slippery Stone is a great place to sip a cocktail with friends, share a pizza with the kids, or have an intimate dinner. It’s versatile! For a casual and affordable lunch or dinner (with a pretty rice paddy view to boot), head to Bow. They do an incredible lamb tagine and the wine list is very reasonable.
Luxuriate on a four-poster canopy daybed around the swimming pool at Mozaic Beach Club and work your way through the bar menu, or head upstairs for a gastronomic experience.
Pamper
Think Pink Nails has the best selection of nail polishes you’ve ever seen. Chanel, Dior, Tom Ford… plus they do massages, waxing, eyelash extensions and have just started doing Khiel’s facials. What’s not to love?!
Shop
The latest boutique to open up on Batu Belig is Frockk which has beautiful, floaty, feminine clothes in absolutely divine fabrics. We adore Coco & Ginger for their colourful kidswear and pretty florals but we are especially in love with the new homewares and handbag range! Just next door is Bambooku. Once you’ve slept on the organic bamboo linen you won’t rest your head on anything else again! hYperwear stock a fabulous and colourful range of gym, tennis, and yoga gear for women.
If you’re looking for something for the home, head directly to Lemari for a stunning selection of Indonesian antiques. Kevala makes some of the most interesting and beautiful ceramics in Bali, and if you are looking for eco-friendly handmade stationery then you’ll adore Saraswati Papers.
