Weekend scoop for foodies
A spruced up menu from one of our revered French spots, specialty sakes paired with Spanish tapas (yes, really), a new brunch-meets-arts concept, and more! Read on for the deets.
French dining that embraces communal sharing style and won’t wipe out your lunch money – it’s easy to see why we have a soft spot for casual French dining restaurant Cocotte. We’re stoked that they’re kicking off the New Year with a brand new all day menu! Fret not, signatures like poulet roti and steak frites aren’t getting axed. Look out for new treats like a revamped charcuterie board, cepe mushroom & duck confit tart, crepinettes sharing platter, and a fresh selection of artisanal cheese.
If we say kebabs and beer, do we get your attention? Table by Rang Mahal is rolling out a buffet that promises endless flow of succulent Indian kebabs and all the beer (or soft drinks) you can drink. Available on Fridays till Saturdays from 5-8pm, and Sundays from 12-3pm, with damage of only $36++ per pax, you might find it hard to stay sober through the weekend.
Brunch with a side of art, that’s how we roll. Raffles Hotel is collaborating with five local art galleries – Artesan Gallery + Studio, Chan Hampe Galleries, Element Art Space, Nikei Fine Art, and Yunlore Art – to offer a Sunday brunch that allows you to view distinctive collections of art works, while relishing refreshments at each gallery. Call your fellow art-loving pals for this one; it’s happening 19 Jan (11am-3pm)!
Classic Japanese aperitif collides with traditional Spanish bar bites and Bam! (literally) Bam is a newbie watering hole in town that offers a refreshing sake-tapas concept. Whether you’re a fan of the oriental tipple or relish your small plates, you’re bound to get your appetite sated there. Savour treats like kampong egg with fried baby calamari and chorizo, and sakura ebi omelette with melon and all-i-oli (garlic sauce), while you sip on a glass of their specialty sakes.
If you’re anything like us and find it hard to keep your hands out of a bag of chips, we’ve got just the snack to last you through post-weekend Monday blues. Viva La Papa is a new brand of organic hand cooked crunchy chips from Peru, with exotic flavours like Andean pink salt, anticucho BBQ, chillies and lime, sweet potato, and native potato. Better still; the good folk of Viva La Papa make a contribution from each bag sold to Andean children’s charity Amantani! Pick up your pack at boutique grocers/retailers – Real Food, SPRMRKT, The American Club, and Swiss Butchery.
