In this new interview series, Honeycombers' very own Graphic Designer tells us what must-have cosmetic products go into her makeup bag
Sometimes, when we are lacking that oomph of inspiration in our lives, we tend to look to our surroundings to find muses from around. Let’s face it: we are pretty curious to know what’s inside the bag of famous celebrities like The Kardashians, influential sports stars like Serena Williams or even that one fashionable colleague sitting a desk away from you – hoping to draw some handy tips or secrets from them. In this debut edition of What’s In My Bag, we take a look at popular fashion and beauty blogger Szes Zhang – and Honeycombers’ very own Graphic Designer – and what treasures lie within her makeup bag.
As Szes is an Instagram celeb with currently 14.2K followers (and still growing!), we’re pretty stoked to discover her beauty essentials in her chic black H&M Faux Fur makeup purse, that’s responsible for helping her look so flawless all the time. So what’s in your bag, Szes?
1. Shu Uemura Face Architect Smooth Fit Fluid Foundation & Skin Food Loose Powder
“For someone with oily skin (yes, I admit it!), the Shu Uemura foundation is perfect. What’s more? It also provides good coverage without having my makeup feeling too cakey. To set my makeup, I’ll use the light weight and scented loose powder from Skin Food – then voila; nice smooth skin!”
2. Zoeva Makeup Brushes
“Truly a gem from former Luxola and now Sephora.sg, the Zoeva makeup brushes are one of my favourite brushes as they still remain uber soft even after cleaning and washing them countless times.”
3. ZA Brow Liner & Maybelline Fashion Brow Mascara
“To ensure that my brows are on fleek, I’d first use the ZA Brow Liner to draw, and afterwards I’d use the Maybelline Fashion brow mascara to fill in the gaps. Most importantly, you’ll have to use a colour tone that matches your hair colour so that your brows will look au-naturale. I’m using the brown one.”
4. Daiso Princess Liquid Eyeliner & KissMe Heroine Make Eyeliner
“Yes, you read that right. You can surely find makeup gems at Daiso if you rummage through its plethora of cool offerings. To me, the Daiso Princess Liquid Eyeliner is the bomb; it is super smudge-proof and exudes a solid black tone which I truly love. The KissMe Heroine Make Eyeliner is great as well due to its super fine tip – perfect for that winged tip look.”
5. Faux Fayc Fauxlash Mascara Duo & Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler
“What I like about the Faux Fayc Fauxlash Mascara Duo is that it comes with one transplanting gel tube that coats a layer of protection gel for your lashes, and one natural fibres tube that can create the wide-eye effects for you. And to make your eyes pop even more, every girl must have the Shu Uemura eyelash curler. I think it works well especially for Asian lashes.”
6. Faux Fayc Fauxstix Matt Liquid – Bare & NYX Butter Lipstick – BLS 11 Licorice
“Why you should get the Faux Fayc Fauxstix Matt Liquid is the fact that it has a brush tip, which makes applying lipstick way simpler and less messy. I love playing around with my makeup look; I love creating a unique gradient effect for my lips, and for that, I’ll use a very dark shade of the NYX Butter Lipstick on top of the Faux Fayc Fauxstix Matt Liquid.”
7. Clean & Clear Oil Control Film & Shiseido Ibuki Quick Fix Mist
“After a hard day’s work, my face tends to get a wee bit oily. So that’s when the Clean & Clear oil control film comes in handy. And after a good wipe, I’ll spray a pump, or two, of the sweet-smelling Shiseido Ibuki Quick Fix mist to freshen my skin up.”
Thanks Szes!
