Pinacotheque de Paris to open here
Artaholics, sit your tush down because we have heartstopping news. Pinacothèque de Paris, the largest private art museum in Paris, is venturing out of Europe for the first time – and guess who they picked as their lucky host? Yes, it’s little ol’ Singas!
This Parisian art museum is set to hit our shores in the first quarter of 2015 and will set up their offshore venture at Fort Canning Centre. Singapore Pinacothèque de Paris will celebrate transversality and the dialogue between different works of art. Um, what? Put simply, it will be all about how art pieces complement, interact, and transform with each other.
Know that you won’t be missing out on anything – the museum in Singapore will mirror that of France, which is already famous for hosting world-class exhibitions by master artists. Under their belt: Rembrandt Harmensz, Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Amedeo Modigliani, Pablo Picasso, Edvard Munch, and Jackson Pollock. You know, no big deal.
If you’re wondering what makes Pinacothèque de Paris stand out from the crowd, it’s their unconventional approach to curation. Founder Marc Restellini ensures a rare presentation of these pieces by putting things together by transvere themes instead of by predictable dates or movements. Pinacothèque de Paris will also feature classic and contemporary art pieces previously unavailable in our region. –Art adventurers will love that they get to delve into the classic realm of art history and explore diverse eras and areas that have been left unexamined.
With Pinacothèque de Paris on its map, Fort Canning Centre is set to be the one-stop shop for shopaholics, foodies, and art-based lifestyles. The guys at Art Heritage Singapore (AHS) will ensure that this historical landmark will become THE place to be for cultural activities and educational events for everyone. They’ve got it covered – expect retail spaces, F&B, and customized tours of exhibitions. Better yet, look forward to new event spaces and a museum shop in the scene!
Need a sneak peek of what to expect? Singapore Pinacothèque de Paris will have a pop-up exhibition in September this year (and you bet we’re going to be there!).
Stay tuned!
Admission charges to Singapore Pinacothèque de Paris will apply. The great news is that concessions will be available for Singapore residents, Singapore and PR senior citizens, students, and fulltime NS men.
