From aerial yoga to indoor ‘surfing’, here are some of our favourite gyms and fitness studios to get sweaty in…
In order to look and feel like a glamorous goddess in their wedding dress, many brides make it a goal to lose weight and tone up their arms, thighs, abs, butt and more before their big day. If you find running on a treadmill a chore, there are plenty of spiffy spots in Singapore that make working out and getting in shape fun and fresh.
Crucycle
Need a dose of motivation to get you pumped? The upbeat instructors at Crucycle’s spin classes are great at encouraging riders to push their physical limits. To help you get in the zone, each class is held in a darkened room with catchy, pulsing music. Aside from cycling your way to enviable legs, expect a mix of dance, abdominal workouts and arm-strengthening dumbbell elements. A single class costs $45, while a 50-class package costs $1,800.

Surfset Singapore
Giving you all the beach bod benefits of surfing without getting wet or crashing into the waves, Surfset’s studio features custom-built boards that rest on an unstable, move-able base, designed to mimic the feel of bobbing on water. The 45-minute classes will challenge your sense of balance and core strength, helping you get leaner and stronger. Try the yoga-infuenced Balance class for a gentler, slower-paced workout, or the high-intensity Sweat class for serious calorie-burning. Prices range from $35 for a single class to $310 for a 10-class package.

AMPED Trampoline Park
Your inner child will go bananas for this trampoline park, which has more than 50 of the bouncy contraptions covering the floors (and part of the walls) of the studio. Not only is monkeying around on a trampoline ridiculously fun, it’s also a surprisingly effective workout – studies have shown that a 10-minute session is as good as 30 minutes of solid cardio. Plus, it puts much less stress on your joints. Prices range from $12-$15 per hour.

SUP
Water babies looking for a challenge can try this quirky sport – a cross between surfing and kayaking. Traverse the waves on a long foam board with the help of a paddle and, in the process of steering, work on your posture, core and lower-body strength. Stand Up Paddling School (SUP) in Sentosa is the only place in Singapore that offers classes, conducted by its thrill-seeking founder, Isabelle Malique-park. Private classes start at $80 an hour, while paddleboard rental starts at $40 an hour.

Bobbi’s Pole Studio
Picking up graceful pole moves and looking effortless doing so requires lots of upper body strength, flexibility and agility. Not only is this sensual sport a top-to-toe workout, it does wonders for boosting confidence and feeling positive about your body. At Bobbi’s Pole Studio, you can take both beginner and advanced classes to become more lithe and limber, and perhaps pick up a few tricks for the bedroom, too. Classes start from $260 for an eight-week course. Want a fun night out with the girls? Their hen party package (from $38 per person) promises lots of light-hearted, twirl-y fun.
