Audi Fashion Festival Opening Show
Last night, Singapore’s fashion elite descended en masse onto The Tent@Orchard for one very special man: Prabal Gurung. Given that it was the opening act for Audi Fashion Festival 2014 and the Singapore-born Nepalese designer’s first ever homecoming since hitting the big leagues, expectations for a stellar show were at an all-time high. And true to his creative genius, Mr. Gurung didn’t disappoint.
As an homage to his heritage, the Fall Winter 2014 collection was thoroughly inspired by the Himalayas: from the liberal splashes of crimson hues, to the effortless draping reminiscent of monks’ robes, the show’s tribal soundtrack, right down to the tiny bells festooning the heels worn by models. But what really caught our eye was the designer’s study of contrasts through the clever juxtaposition of nubby knits and plush feathers with floaty silk and organza pieces.
The highlight of the collection was nothing short of spectacular: a trio of ethereal evening gowns that wouldn’t look out of place on any red carpet event.
Fashion mania continues at the Audi Fashion Festival 2014, happening from 14 to 18 May 2014. Can’t get enough? Stay tuned for more AFF-related news and post-event coverage!
