Now you can “borrow” an umbrella on a rainy day and portable chargers from the Bukit Panjang integrated transport hub
Sure, public transport in Singapore (particularly SMRT) has had its bad days, so here’s them trying to make it up to us commuters. In a bid to improve commuter experience, the new Bukit Panjang integrated transport hub (ITH) – the first hub operated by SMRT – will be rolling out a couple of initiatives in the coming months, one of it being the WeCare Shop which opens on 4 September.
A sort-of library of useful items, the WeCare Shop will allow commuters to loan umbrellas, portable chargers, and shopping trolleys at no deposit for up to three days. Other practical initiatives include interactive information kiosks that allow people to plan ahead their journeys, an open-concept passenger services counter, and facilities like dedicated boarding points for passengers in wheelchairs and more. We can imagine all these to come in handy for both locals and visiting tourists.
The Bukit Panjang ITH will integrate the new bus interchange with the MRT and LRT stations, and Hillion Mall. It will also be Singapore’s ninth integrated transport hub, joining others at Toa Payoh, Sengkang, Ang Mo Kio, Boon Lay, Serangoon, Clementi, Bedok and Joo Koon. Just keep everything running smoothly, okay, SMRT?
Psst, did you hear that COE prices have dipped recently or go for something classic like a Vespa side-car tour.
