Can’t decide between chicken rice, Hokkien mee, or char kway teow? Or curious about street food from Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand? Try it all at this food festival at Sentosa this July
From spicy curries to springy noodles, Southeast Asia certainly doesn’t have a shortage of street food. But you don’t have to hop around the region to try ’em all – this nine-day festival at Resorts World Sentosa kicks off with Malaysian Food Street featuring food from more than 20 hawkers hailing from Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, and of course, Singapore.
Hawker highlights at the festival include kuih from Nona Manis, Vietnamese favourites from Nha Hang Viet and Baan Phad Thai as well as Foon Ta Lop (famed for its som tam) from Chatuchak – hailed as the world’s best street food according to NBCNEWS Destination Travel. More signature stalls add to the hawker star power – the famous Jalan Alor Star KL Hokkien Mee, and Heun Kee Claypot Chicken Rice from Kuala Lumpur will also make an appearance alongside Malaysian Food Street’s own Penang Lim Brothers’ Char Kway Teow.
In addition to top-notch street food, visitors will also get to kick back at the festival’s beer garden which will showcase live music performances and open-mic sessions on weekend evenings. And if you’re a lover of all things durian, pay a visit to the Tropical Zone by the Waterfront Promenade to sate your cravings.
While entry is free, early-bird bundles for Street Eats are offered and will include eight food vouchers for the event, a complimentary can of Coca-Cola (top up $4 for Tiger Beer), and $35 worth of gift vouchers for OSIM and SodaStream.
Street Eats, Malaysian Food Street, Resorts World Sentosa, Level 1 Waterfront, 12-20 August
