What is really happening to your body
It is a word that gets tossed around a lot these days, especially after the holidays when we’ve all overindulged in one way or another. From that extra helping of irresistible pie, to your mother’s cooking, and that (nightly) extra glass of wine. Not to mention the emotional highs and lows of the holiday season which can be quite stressful!
So, all this gathers in our bodies, usually settling around our waist-lines. Before we know it, nothing fits quite right, we feel washed out and majorly depleted in energy. What happened here?
Simply put, more waste has collected in the body than what the body can reasonably resolve. The waste then becomes toxic to our system. Just as we clean our home everyday to maintain it, we need to clean our body from the inside out to make sure it runs effectively and the cells are able to regenerate and function.
Detox is not a new concept, it has been practised by many cultures over the centuries as a way to strengthen the internal organs to optimal efficiency for disease prevention.
What is Detox?
It is not fasting, nor only juicing, nor only taking herbs and supplements. Yes, these things can help in some way, but Detox is when you have more toxins going out than coming in to your body.
Why?
When waste builds up in the body, it stores in cells such as fat cells, liver and thyroid. This compromises your immune system. You experience reduced function, reduced energy, attract diseases, inflammation, premature aging and deficiencies. To combat these symptoms, it is important to detox correctly. If you don’t, you can actually feel worse as the toxins that are released into your system are not able to leave the body.
Which Detox is right for me?
There are 2 types of detox:
1. Everyday Detox 2. Deep Detox
For 80% of people, option 1 is all they need. For 100% of people, this is where they need to start. The deep detox is for serious health issues and must be cleared with a doctor first. A detox that educates and changes daily habits such as the Living Foods Detox, tends to be the most beneficial and effective for the long run. This one is gentle on the body and a natural way to healing yourself on a cellular level. Make sure you have guided support through the detox.

The team at the Raw Food Centre, has been teaching Culinary Classes to introduce delicious Living Foods into the diet but found that people need to first clean their bodies on the inside (their gut) so the body can properly absorb the nutritious foods.
Over time the intestines or pipes get clogged and we need to remove the sludge! This is the aim of the 3–Detox programs where participants are shown how to incorporate simple delicious recipes into everyday life. Not through fasting but feasting, it is possible to have fun while you detox.
Start the New Year with the greatest gift to yourself, your health!
