The TRUE COLOURS Festival for Artistes with Disabilities will debut in 2018, bringing together a line-up of over 20 local and international artistes with disabilities
Never underestimate what the human spirit can accomplish. Pushing past perceived limitations are these singers, dancers, musicians, and theatre practitioners who are set to stun in a unique indoor concert that will showcase their talent and creativity next year. Searching for inspiration? Then make sure you check out the TRUE COLOURS Festival for Artistes with Disabilities, featuring a line-up of highly talented local and international artistes with disabilities.
The debut edition of the festival will feature talented singers like Australia’s Tony Dee. In case you’re not familiar, the singer fronted the highly successful “We’re the Superhumans” video campaign promoting the Rio 2016 Paralympics, and is one of the first international artistes to confirm his participation at the festival.
Local heroes making an appearance also include multi-talented 23-year-old Singaporean Danial Bawthan, an a capella beat-boxer, hip-hop music producer, wheelchair rugby player, and former WCMX rider.
But that’s really just scratching the surface – the full lineup is still in the works, but you can expect Singaporean artistes like hearing-impaired virtuoso pianist Dr Azariah Tan and dance troupe Redeafination. Additional international acts include inclusive arts organisation Epic Arts, Caliph Buskers, a Malaysian band comprising visually impaired musicians, and Digital Orchestra, Scotland’s first orchestra of musicians with disabilities who perform exclusively on electronic instruments.
While the festival might be all the way in 2018, the TRUE COLOURS aims to confirm a line-up of more than 20 acts by mid-2017. So stay tuned for more on this inspirational celebration of arts and the human spirit.
