Treat the entire family to an indulgent spread of Chinese New Year dishes in cosy private rooms at this posh hotel
If you have an extended family the size of a small country, you’d know that planning a reunion dinner is no mean feat. Sweating in the kitchen and making sure everything is spick and span to impress the fam? Ain’t nobody got time for that!
Thankfully, the good folks at InterContinental Singapore’s Man Fu Yuan have launched a mouthwatering Chinese New Year menu packed with hearty dishes for the entire clan. Whether your family is fun-sized or super-sized, you and the bunch will feel right at home in the restaurant’s main dining hall, or in the privacy of cloistered alcoves or private rooms which seat up to 30 people at a grand round table – cosy!
Every classic reunion dinner kicks off with yu sheng – traditionally a raw fish salad mixed with shredded vegetables and a variety of sauces. This time, the dish comes with a special twist – think black truffle, Hokkaido crab meat, silver bait fish and fresh fruits ($138 for eight to 10 persons). If you prefer something more traditional, salmon yu sheng ($78/small, $118/large) is also available. Toss away!
For the perfect reunion centerpiece, try the whole suckling pig stuffed with glutinous rice ($388). A Man Fu Yuan signature, this dish is a crowd-pleaser and will even satisfy your hard-to-please relatives. If your family prefers seafood to meat, savour the Man Fu Yuan Supreme Treasures Pot ($398) – a pen cai (meaning “basin dish”) literally filled to the brim with 10-head whole abalones, Canadian lobster, Hokkaido crab meat, Australian scallops and more.
The feasting doesn’t have to end there – pick up some sweet treats as gifts for your family, or just have them all to yourself! The drool-worthy Golden Egg Custard Pastry and Prosperity Pineapple Tarts (both $38) will satisfy any sweet tooth.
Man Fu Yuan has eight prosperity set menus, so you’ll be spoilt for choice with premium selections. Set menus range from $128 per person to $2,088 for 10 persons. Book your reunion dinner and order any of Man Fu Yuan’s set menus from 31 January to 11 February 2017, and enjoy a complimentary whole smoked duck with Chinese tea leaves, brown sugar and tong gui per table of eight persons or more! This offer is valid while stocks last.
