Combining luxury and style, and an isolated location away from the city near Quayside Isle, W Singapore – Sentosa Cove is perfect for a memorable, romantic staycay
When I choose to shut my brain down for a staycay, I want it to be a true escape – no commotion from the city, a cloistered retreat, and luxury oozing from every nook and cranny. Granted, the offshore island of Sentosa has quite a few resorts that fit these criteria, but there was one in particular that I wanted to strike off my bucket list. Huddled within the tranquil, opulent enclave of Sentosa Cove near Quayside Isle and ONE°15 Marina Club, W Singapore – Sentosa Cove was where I wished to kick my shoes off and give zero hoots about reality. And as I’d hoped, it was just the break I needed.
Let’s start with the rooms… my Fabulous Room (worth SGD425 a night) at that. Being lazily horizontal is pretty much my natural state, so first impressions are crucial when it comes to the bedroom. The first feature that hit me instantly was the sleek, modern wall behind my King Bed – floral patterns are carved into the stone-grey surface, with mood lights (I could change the colour of these from warm yellow to zesty amethyst) installed beneath to allow guests to adjust the overall temperament of the 40sqm room – changing the vibe from family-friendly to romantically-intimate is as easy as pushing a button.
Other creature comforts that effortlessly make this room pop: snug carpeted floors, perforated orb lambs that shoot out polka dotted rays onto the walls, ceiling lamps crafted from ornamental butterflies, a breezy balcony with a view of the pool, and a spacious bathroom with a tub and rain shower. Even the Balearic-styled downtempo music that pumps out the moment you switch on the telly – with cushy quality courtesy of the in-built Bose sound system, of course – sets the escapist mood just right in this stress-quelling abode. I could stay here forever, if only.

It’s not just the rooms that whisk you away; the lobby of the hotel itself is a sight to behold – gorgeous wood and marble wall textures, light-inviting floor-to-ceiling windows, slump-worthy pod chairs, and a grand staircase adjacent to a slope of illuminated stems reminiscent of extra-terrestrial flora, which look absolutely mesmerising in the evening. There is an AWAY Spa filled with saunas, vitality pools and herbal baths to rejuvenate the senses, and a 24-hour FIT gym to loosen those limbs if you’re feeling too lethargic (no such thing in my book). Personally, I was pleased to find that the hotel’s WET pool was also open 24 hours, leaving the possibility of midnight cannonballs without the scourge of sunburn totally open.
Gluttony and sloth go hand in hand, and thankfully, W Singapore – Sentosa Cove has dining options that will appease the fussiest of diners. SKIRT is a grill restaurant that will beef up your staycay experience with meats galore, and The Kitchen Table is where I’d love to start my day every day with its vast international buffet breakfast featuring everything from English breakfast to local laksa. And if you need a tipple to toast to a weekend done right, WOOBAR is where you need to be seen with its happy hour promos and velvety beats.
Some staycays fall short when they fail to deliver the vacay aspect, whether it’s due to mediocre design, lacklustre entertainment options, or an environment that hardly immerses you in anything new. But take one step into W Singapore – Sentosa Cove, and I assure you that you have nothing to worry about. It’s therapeutic, enchanting, impeccably chic, and all kinds of Wonderful – with a capital W, no less.
