Sure, Amsterdam may be the most bicycle-friendly city in the world and Jakarta is actually bike hostile, but that doesn’t stop some brave souls around town from attempting to navigate the Big Durian on two wheels.
And despite the macet, we still have some amazing places to cycle around Jakarta. We have the spots and the desire, so now all we need is the bike! Here is a list of some of the best bike shops in the city.
This traditional market should be the first stop on your list if you’re looking for affordable bikes in Jakarta. There are tonnes of vendors and bicycles available here with prices hovering around Rp. 1 million for a brand-new ride and Rp. 600,000 for used cycles.

Jari-Jari Bike Boutique
Calling themselves a bike boutique, Jari-Jari mainly sells stylish bikes from Japan. They are an authorized dealer of the Tyrell Mini-Velos, full-sized road bikes with 20-inch wheels made especially for urban commuting (sound familiar?), and also carry Tyrell’s foldable model as well. You can also pick up a ride from popular Japanese brand Tokyo Bike here.
