Make a date with Museum Macan on Saturday, 17 March 2018 as the art museum celebrates the end of its first exhibition.
If you haven’t had the chance to hit up Museum Macan’s current and inaugural exhibition “Art Turns. World Turns,” it’s not too late. The exhibition, which features 90 inspiring works from both Indonesian and international artists to explore the local art scene in the context of global art history, closes this weekend with a final shindig on Saturday 17 March. There’s even music and booze involved – another excuse to get some culture in.
To celebrate, Museum Macan is hosting a slew of fun activities for all ages. Those with tots in tow should take the kiddos over Saturday morning for a Storytelling and Sensory Play Through Art workshop led by Ganara Art Studio. Meanwhile, contemporary artist Zico Albaiquni is leading a Life Drawing workshop in the afternoon, and if you haven’t got a creative gene in you, worry not, as this Drink and Draw workshop comes complete with wine to loosen you up, while the soothing sounds of the UPH Conservatory of Music mini orchestra spark inspiration. Stay on through the evening as Sofar Sounds Jakarta throws an intimate concert featuring four female acts from Jakarta’s indie music scene.
If you thought that was all, think again. For a last look, Museum Macan is even extending its opening hours through to 10pm all weekend in MACAN After Hours. That’s more than enough time to queue up for Yayoi Kusama’s spectacular Infinity Mirrors room before the highly anticipated Yayoi exhibition takes place this summer.
