In this month's edition of Hot New Tables: Beau HQ, Attarine, Markeeze by Ombe Koffie, SaladStop!, and MONKS.
From kick-ass salad bars to cosy cafes, there’s never a shortage of trendy new places to dine out in this bustling city of ours. Empty those bellies as we dish on the best new restaurants in Jakarta this month.
Attarine knows just how to keep it simple and get it right. The latest by Potato Head Group pays homage to the Spice Route, cooking up comfort dishes with seasonal and familiar ingredients in exciting new ways. Fill up the table with a range of their small plates so you can try a little bit of everything and you must get their Wood Fired Flat Bread with smooth green lentil puree and za’atar.

Those on the hunt for freshly baked bread and exquisite pastries must already be familiar with Beau’s mallside locatons, but the bakery has recently gone to bigger pastures and opened up their HQ cafe on Jalan Cikajang. Besides their famous Bombos, the cosy cafe serves a mean brunch menu with weekend staples like brioche french toast, avocado toast and the classic New York bagel. #foodies who need to get the ‘gram should order the picture-ready smorrebord – three open sandwich servings of Danish dark rye with a rainbow of seasonal toppings.
Beau, Jl Cikajang No. 29.
Cool and casual, MONKS is Kelapa Gading’s latest hipster hangout with a fusion menu that will have hungry foodies surely satisfied. For breakfast, there are the regular stalwarts: Ni-hon Toast (their version of indulgent french toast with maple syrup and ice cream), Reto-Pankeki (their red velvet pancakes!), and Goji-ra Breakfast (your standard big ole’ plate of everything). Salted egg lovers need to try their Shio Tama Ramen, a sauteed ramen with MONKS’ special salted egg sauce and chicken katsu.

Maarkeze by Ombe Koffie
The famous Ombe Koffie is back at it again with their latest new coffee haunt. If you’ve ever heard the name but never managed to make it up North to the original cafe, you’re in luck because Maarkeze by Ombe Koffie has just opened up shop in the middle of Grand Indonesia’s Central Department Store. Coffee connoisseurs won’t be disappointed as they sip on their choices of lovingly brewed pour overs, trust us, one sip will blow you away.
Maarkeze by Ombe Koffie, Grand Indonesia East Mall, Central Department Store, 1st Floor.
SaladStop! is out to prove that salads don’t have to be sad bowls of wilted lettuce leaves topped with a thousand island dressing that frankly defeats the purpose. The healthy food chain from Singapore with good-for-you eats has just opened their first Jakarta-side offshoot, and we’re thrilled to say the least. Eat your greens in a bowl or in a wrap, and build your salad with lean proteins and a seemingly endless list of possibilities with colour and flavour to fill you up. They’ve got killer acai bowls too.
