The long wait is finally over as we welcome the most fascinating festive season of the year. Christmas is the best time to share with your loved ones and spread joy to everyone. Even if Christmas is going to be a little different this year, the magical spirit will still jingle all the way and remind everyone to cherish life and loved ones. Steering away from the typical Christmas decorations, TKO Plaza gives this Christmas celebration a new perspective by stretching its meaning further beyond. Proudly presenting ” A Green Christmas: Fabrics and Wreath” from November 26 to January 3, 2021 , TKO Plaza adds a sustainable twist to the festive vibe making this Christmas double as magical and much more meaningful. Riding on the success of last year’s exhibition, the event spreads joy while advocating the benefits and potential of environmental sustainability. Joining hands with AaaM Architects, social enterprise Made In Sample who works on recyclable materials, local creative unit KaCaMa and material reengineer Worksheet Studio, they create a sensational display of large-scale Christmas art installation made from recycled fabrics and upcycled seating installations made out of recycled tea leaves. On top of all the quintessential seasonal fun and joy at the Christmas market and handcrafts DIY set, the event is an inspirational journey that reminds people to be more conscious about their environment and the importance of protecting our environment.
Venture into a Green Christmas! – Explore the wonders of creativity as the art installations stretch beyond barriers by connecting and interacting from AaaM Architects and Made In Sample
Following the success of last year’s exhibition which highlights repurposed fabrics “Fabric Playgound”, design firms AaaM and Made In Sample team up this year, raising the exhibition to the next level. A feast to the eyes, the visually stunning gigantic Christmas wreath art installation made from colorful reused fabrics appears as an aerial display suspended in mid air of the piazza. The mega wreath is made of hundreds of reused or wasted fabric patches combined together. The fabric sewn piece by piece, measures 25 meters long, and wraps into a beautiful spectrum of Christmas hues. As the colorful journey unfolds, a dynamic revolving chandelier made of waste wallpaper assembled together, gracefully illuminates the center of the wreath. When the epitome of modern architecture and contemporary design combine, the power not only connects people together but also educates the public on the limitless potential of sustainability.
When the exhibition closes, the exhibits’ sustainable journey will continue in a different form. The wreath will be deconstructed in phone pouches, while the chandelier will be upcycled and transformed into 20 hand-carry bags. By doing so, the wonders of sustainable creativity not only gives unwanted materials a second life but also turns waste into beautiful useful things.
KaCaMa and Worksheet Studio collaborate in transforming waste into treasures – upcycled eco-friendly leisure benches
Two Hong Kong-based design firms specialized in sustainable design, KaCaMa and Worksheet Studio come together to create the upcycled eco-friendly leisure seating installations which are made out of recycled tea leaves and reclaimed wood reengineered at Worksheet Studio. These seating facilities offer visitors to immerse in the wonders of sustainability while they take a break to appreciate the exceptional Christmas art installations.
